Hello. I am having problem playing back OGG file. I used to be able to open this with WMPlayer.
I got virus in my PC a while back ago and clean re-installed my PC recently (for first time), and installing games, patches, and etc.
After doing so I'm no longer able to play back OGG file. I came to realize this after trying to listen to musics inside of BF2 mod common client folder.
I went onto Wikipedia and read about OGG. And through wikipedia links I installed Java. So I can now playback OGG files posted in Wikipedia article.
I went onto Microsoft webpage and looked through help threads about OGG file, searched with-in Microsoft webpage about how to playback OGG file, but could not find the solution.
Only thing I found out about was I can install something called DirectShow, which I failed to understand or find to install from legitimate site.
But strange strange. Before I did the re-install, which was PC as I bought it, I had no problem playing back OGG on Windows Media Player. And I don't remember installing or doing anything to make WMP able to play OGG.
When I re-installed my PC, I got service pack 3 and newest WMP with all updates I can find from Microsoft update.
If there is a way to do this, I want to find whatever it is from legitimate site, which I could safely visit. Such as wikipedia and microsoft.
Thank you for taking your time to read. Help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello
This is a media player I use, it can play everything I've thrown at it.... It seems OGG is supported also.

Re: Unable to play OGG file
You are missing codecs and OGG files probably won't be the only thing that won't work (you might run into issues with videos later too).
For videos I'd suggest you get VLC. It's small, easy to install and use and can play just about every audio or video format out there. It will play the OGGs too, but you might be better off getting a dedicated music player for that. Personally I use AIMP.
Good luck

Problem solved. Or at least I think so.
Wikipedia:Media help - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I went in this order as reffered to by Wikipedia pages and installed something called Windows 32/64 bit from 3rd link there. About 2.6MB.
Icon looks something like that one.
I wonder if this was legitimate sites legitimate program. Because I'm worried about virus.
Edit: some typo on picture. OGG coded icon I was thinking I named it OGG codec icon. nevermind.
3rd link is not clickable. But its refered from the 2nd link.

No.. I didn't But, thank you for your kind suggestion. I really wanted something legitimate for PC safety.. But! I'm having something strange now. As I'm not familiar with PC, it seems to me like something bad. All of OGG file become that Icon.boilerrat wrote:Did you try the ones we suggested?
Any Idea? Is this something bad? That is the FH2 sound files from common_client. I know I might sound silly to people who are good with computer.
I don't understand. I never had to install anything to play OGG before I clean installed my PC by my self. I Installed everything that came with PC. Now that I installed this to play OGG, OGG files look differnt. When I was able to play the OGG as I bought my PC, Icons were that of WMPlayer.
If this Icon change isn't anything suspicious, and there is a way to fix this Icons please let me know.
