I've seen some bloody good shooters, such as, last night, sitting in my Scimitar on Al Basrah.

From JUST in visual range I sight a RPG armed Insurgent. I'm quite steady about this, I mean he probably can't even see me. I start to let loose my HEI-T and Light Inf Rounds. Obviously this fails immediately due to the poor accuracy of the Scimitar. He takes instant cover, aims the thing at the clouds, and I just see this swirling rocket him my right in the turret.

From this I just think it's 40% luck, and 60% practise/knowing the deviation of the projectile.

Just set up a single player and practise shooting it. :)

The RPG is alright, you just shouldn't fire it in Prone position in my opinion.

I personally think it should be used in closer ranges then the other comparable weapons like the AT-4 and such.

hmm I dont know. On the occasional fail insurgency game where everyone is just doing there thing I try to practise near a cache. Just sit still, aim down the sights at the angle you think is right and fire after waiting a long time. I get straight lines a lot of times.

I don't have issue with RPG. Its great weapon. Few times i have shouted down some black hawks. 8) And against armored vehicles it could be little bit stronger, but its still great weapon. ;)

If you shoot enough of them, you have more chance to hit him! If you wait long enough, and make an RPG crew of 2 man you always have a chance of hitting them.

But why does it randomly hit a window near you and kill you? Sometimes I wait like 10 sec plus and it does that :/

it seems to happen when its the last RPG you have. The last RPG i have sometimes not always seems to go stray no matter how long i wait for it to settle.

I understand the devs making RPGs inaccurate, but when they randomly kill you we have a problem :/

The RPG badly needs optics, seriously! Atleast the Russian Forces one.

Think of it as back-blast, firing rockets from inside buildings is a bad idea in real-life too.

Reacting to enemy vehicles requires more than just aiming and firing from wherever you happen to be. You need to move and get in a decent position to engage the armor. You'll find that you are far more effective at mid range than shooting at the front of apc's from a building 400m out.

I find that being on the high ground benefits the rocket because you're kind of, working in a team with gravity? Instead of calculating against it. :)

Ambushing is No.1 along side this. I am making a lot of PR tutorials soon, and this will be one.

h0bb1t wrote:Lol, i had that problem with the grenade launcher a few times yesterday. i know that the grenade launcher isn't the weapon of choice on a forest map, but hey...

Anyway, i was 50 meters behind the rest of my squad, when they got shot at... everybody ducked, and hid behind a tree.
The SL ordered me to use the grenade launcher to take them out, so i aim between the two trees where my squad was hiding, wait like 10 seconds (probably more) without moving my mouse, and i shoot.

Wadda ya know, it hits the left tree, killing 2 of my squadmates and hurting 3 others...

FFFUUU~!
Whut? Grenade launcher is THE weapon for forrest maps. Soldia hiding in bush, lob greande at him. Soldia hiding behind a rock, lon a grenade. Soldia hiding behind a tree, grenade, lob.

The RPG really isn't that bad IMO, just think of the deviation as something similar to a sniper rifle.
'[R-DEV wrote:Jaymz;1433353']The insurgent RPG-7 in-game is even more lenient that the real thing would be in the hands of a trained RPG Gunner.

source : http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/rpg-7.pdf

Note page 8, 50% chance of a trained RPG gunner hitting a tank at 250m with no crosswinds. 30% at 300m, 20% at 350m.....
And yeah, it seems like its WAAY easier in PR to get an accurate shot quicker with an RPG than in rl, no wind or anything.

The only thing you do have to get used to is the clearance that the projectile needs, because with the fins extended it is much larger than it looks like. So if you shoot it ~2 feet above a windowsil, yeah, you're gonna get blown up.

Works great if you're stationary, I can kill a warrior on lashkar in about 10 seconds flat, hit the side for a mobility kill, then hit the rear door to finish it off. As long as you dont move, deviation is no prob.

Compare the price of a Javelin missile compared to a RPG warhead and I think you'll draw a different conclusion.

Bang for buck RPG-7 represents a pretty good niche.

ALL you have to do is wait like sexen seconds or wait for the target to move in your sights

The RPG does fail.

It fails MORE than it does in real life too.

I tested someone's statistic comment about 50% hit probability at 250metres on a tank (IRL). He said, "It's even easier in PR".

Test it.

I did.

1/3 or 1/4 is more like it at 250m.

I must have fired 30 RPGs on Abrams and Bradley on Fallujah in Local. I noticed significant misses to the left VERY often. I never had a shot veer to the right. It always overshot or undershot or went left.
