Low Frame rates

Post by archerfenris »

I just don't understand why my frame rates are so low. I have everything turned all the way down on low. Still I can barely muster 30 FPS if I'm lucky, and even lower on maps like Gaza and Fallujah. I just don't understand. PR acts like it's a brand new came, like it's bad company or something when it shouldn't be this bad. Specs below, help would be appreciated, thanks.

Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor
Sound Card: Speakers (2- C-Media USB Headphone Set )

As it seems to me your CPU is to weak to handle the big maps in PR. I got a similar problem with my 2,2Ghz Quad-Core CPU as the BF2 engine can only handle up to 2 CPUs - IF it does after 1.5 but I doubt that :x

Save some money and get another CPU with more power. But remember a new CPU with 2,0 Ghz can work more effective than an older one with maybe 2,5 Ghz.

Mhm your CPU is probably the bottle neck, try to upgrade/OC. But could be driver issue as well. Try to download the newest drivers, get TuneUp or similar programs, clean up everything and try then.

Guys....It's a laptop. "Gaming" Laptops do not work well with this game. Don't know why, they just don't. My clan mate had a similar laptop with a 8600M GT and couldn't play this game no matter what (we tried alot too..). I presume its overheating which would cause really bad fps. but yea, Your problem isn't any one component, Its the whole deal. Everyone I've ever known who has tried to play this game on a laptop have had minimal success.

Then you don't know me mate. It is "just" a Laptop, but its far superior to many PR-players rigs. I wouldn't give up that fast, I managed the get PR working pretty decent on my shitty low-end 2005 lappy.

Guys really... some people are starting to believe that PR is some kind of Crysis or Far Cry 2 or something. :|

weird, with MY laptop i can play on medium settings (with some low / off and 2xAA) and its smooth for most maps.

im guessing the only part where my laptop is better than urs is the CPU (2.4GHz vs 1.8Ghz). PR is also pretty CPU intensive. PR didnt like my old Pentium4 3.0Ghz desktop at all and i would have so much lag when looking at trees, but on the Core2Duo, the lag went away.

find a way to overclock your CPU is probably your only choice. also, i recommend cleaning your laptop for dust. my firend has a gateway laptop with similar specs and his games ran so slow from overheating, so we opened it up, blew out some dust with compressed air, and it ran fine again.

Yeah without OCing you wont go far with that system. You should really get a Desktop, if you are mainly out for gaming.

I recently have experienced framerate drops on my laptop in Guild Wars. Strangely the solution to this problem (also solved occasional BSODs) was to clean out the fan. To conclude, my laptop was overheating. Later on I ended up buying a laptop fan (http://www2.liefert-es.com/hbdb/sclinks ... /29409.JPG) to assist the cooling. I am happy with its performance so far.

BTW: although the fan appeared fairly clean (i've seen worse, there were no chunks of dust) using a brush to clean the blades obviously did the trick.

If your running Xfire you should first try turning that off.
I know I had the same problem last patch. I to find out my self what was the problem on the day Xfire did not start.

So hope you can try that if not all i can say is update your drivers, since no one else has said that yet.
