Back from 2 years of not playing PR:BF2

Post by Guerra »

Hey guys, I haven't played PR in over 2 years, and after APB kind of flopped on me I started remembering my fond times with Project Reality and am downloading it as I post.

I do have a few questions.

Has there been much progress on PR: BF2? Are the N. America servers still active? I remember playing mostly on Tactical Gamers server.

What's this about AA2 PR? Is it even out yet?

What's the overall current status of PR?

Thanks.

Welcome back! I myself reinstalled BF2 last weekend after 3 years for the sole purpose of getting back into PR and to keep me busy until ARMA 2 PR comes out.

Welcome back!

PR is getting better and better at the moment, so now is a great time to return!

The TG server is still going strong and ArmA PR has lots of highlights that have been released recently:
Project Reality News - Project Reality Forums

As already mentioned the next release (0.95) has lots of new things to play with:
PR Highlights - Project Reality Forums

Also, if you are interested, PR vietnam has been announced and is currently being developed:
PR:Vietnam General Discussion - Project Reality Forums

So if there was ever a good time to return to PR, it is now.

See you on the battlefield. :)

You should probably be informed on the fact that rally points only last 60sec now.

Each team can deploy 2 TOWs at firebases so watch out with the armor.

SLs require a radio to place objects like FOBs, rallies, defences, and report map info to the rest of the team.

Commanders now have a UAV.

Automatic rifleman kits and medic kits are limited per squad but can be requested at the spawn menu.

I strongly recommend that you use mumble ( it comes with PR when you download it ) when joining a server. More info here:https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... ality.html

Alot has changed, read the manual or find out youself :)

As others have mentioned PR 0.95 is almost here with new features.

Welcome back bro, hope you don;t leave this time. Or I'll shoot you for cowardliness. ;)

Servers are if anything OVERLY populated. More players than vanilla I'd say.

ArmA2, not out, looking great though.

PR is still progressing, making new updates and killing off bugs.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I remember LOVING tank combat. Is it still one driver, one gunner, and one machine gunner on top?

Has much changed with tank combat? I used to be the top tank crewmen. So I want to get back into that. What kind of maps are best for tank combat now?

Besides Tactical Gamer, any good N. American servers?

hi man, yes it is still 3 crew positions for tanks, right now armoured combat is fun but very challenging as there are ATGM (anti tank guided missle) vehicles and positions (so remember to work with teh infantry etc to get info on the forward area), however there is a Vehicle Warfare mode right now which is pretty much everyone in tanks, just for a bit of variation, so I imagine you'd enjoy this mode, however its not seen very often :)

tank combat is mainly on Kashan, Qinling and Silent Eagle

Yeah I remember having one of the best tank squads ever. I was driving, had one friend who was spot on accurate with the tank, my friend who would repair and spot on the machine gun, then a sniper that would do recon (and actually would pick off engineers and crewmen repairing tanks quite nicely), and either another two for a tank or two infantry to grab points. It was a great squad.

Another thing to note. Tanks can no longer be repaired by infantry. It takes either Returning To Base (RTB) or a deployed repair station from a supply truck (hit x) to repair a vehicle.
I'm not certain where two years ago leaves you in the development of the Armor/LAV assets.
  • The Russians have a new tank the T-90 with an Anti-tank Guided Missile attached, same missile that is used on the BMP (which may or may not be new).
  • The Americans had the addition of the Bradley that packs a TOW missile.
  • The Militia now have the "Spandrel" with multiple Anti-tank missiles on board.
I'm certain there are vehicles that I have missed. All-in-all armor runs have become more interesting/dangerous.
