Project Reality Wikia Project

Since the official PR Wiki has been down since ages, maybe it's time to pick up and start a community Wikia.
So I did: Project Reality Wiki
Then i noticed that i'm only good in editing existing pages on Wiki's and not creating brand new ones, i was stuck at the front page.

So is anyone good in creating wiki-templates/pages and can setup a front end so we can fill it in with info later?

Is there anywhere in the forum archievs where old posts from when vehicles and maps / weapons were introduced to the mod can be found?

I am aware of the archives in the highlights forum.

But certain vehicles cant be found like the F-16, is there any place we can find more info?

What we need is someone who can make the template for the main page.
Also, if we get 1 map page ready, we can basically copy-paste it to all other maps pretty fast

Liking the initiative here but tbh it's really not worth it. The reason the official Wiki has been down for such a long time is that the amount of information required for it to be complete is absolutely massive. Only commit to this if you genuinely have the time and desire to see it through, because an incomplete page is pretty much useless.

The page has been down for a year, and in that we've seen what, 2 releases?

Considering how many people can work on this statistically due to it being a community thing is pretty staggering, if we get each forum regular to do one simple page than it'll take a few weeks at most.

When we don't get news about a certain asset being developed people begin to think that its not going to happen. If the team says 'yeah its in the works' and then a year later 'yeah its in the works' there's no doubt somebody is going to make a clone of it, perhaps at a lower quality however.

I can assure you there is progress on it and its far more than a line in a "to do" list. When its done, it will be open to the community with a chance to fill it with info.
Wiki is a huge task, hence it takes so long.

Amount of info you will have to put is literally immense, in my opinion better to invest it into official wiki. Official one will have some control on it from our side, which means you're less likely to run into ****/false information.

before we start filling the page we should create templates, just as nytemyre did

something like:

class: specialist
name: specialist
loadout:
-1: knife, restrainer(insurgency)
-2: shovel
.....
restricitions:
-none (could be 2/team or 4 people in a sq)
role:
-offensive infantry
-arrester with shotgun on ins
-grappling hook support
-lonewolf

that when you want to edit something there is the empty template, you just have to fill, so that the page looks like planned :D

€: if possible you show the template when you click on edit, not when looking at the thread, that way you could write examples nxt to it

Statistically then the more people who work on it from the community the more errors and incorrect piece of information we'll see. If there is wrong or inaccurate information then it makes it worthless and will lead to complaints that the PR Team will have to deal with, not the community member who posted the incorrect detail.

Of course, but just the same as the PR Team won't put a low quality asset into PR when we can wait for a high quality one, we won't adopt an incomplete/incorrect version of a PR Wiki when we could wait and get a complete version.

As Danke said, the official version is being worked on. We're not trying to rain on anyone's parade here and if the community really want to have a go in their own spare time then that's fine, we're just warning you of the immense task that you face. There is a frankly colossal amount of information that would need to go in before it is anywhere near complete so it's not something that can be done lightly.
