Resolution problem (Can't play PR or BF2)

I was trying to get the perfect resolution for my screen in-game (options ---> video ---> resolution), and I tried one resolution. It just gave me the bottom right portion of the menu, so I couldn't do anything except press "ok" to the resolution change. I waited about a minute to see if it would go back on its own, and it didn't. So, I pressed ok, thinking I'd be able to fix it.

I can't.

So is there any way I can get in and change the resolution back the way it was? I can't do anything in either BF2 or PR to change this.

My documents > Battlefield 2 > Profiles > 000x (where x is 1, 2, 3, etc.) > Video.con

Open the video.con file with notepad for example
Change the resolution to what you want it to be
Save the file
Run PR
...
Profit!




If it doesn't work, rename the video.con file to something else, then run PR. It may restore itself then?

Or you may try a system restore( had the same problem messing about today, lol)

Friend of mine has the same problem, he is using a gaming laptop and his problem solves when he uses an external screen.

In addition to AfterDune's suggestion of editing the video.con to something like this

VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

you can also use startup parameters like so:

"C:\<your special path here>\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +szx 1440 +szy 900

(above corresponds to a resolution of 1440x900 [since 1.5 patch bf2 has widescreen support])
which would be a less lasting effect and enable you to change it quickly on the fly untill you want to settle for a certain resolution.
