Limited medic kit teamkill

Post by Smiddey723 »

Hello there,

What i want to bring to attention is the kill timer on medic kits that you have teamkilled the user of. Currently if you teamkill a medic ingame and then pick up his kit, you instantly die. The purpose of this is so people do not teamkill you for your limited kit (e.g. Sniper)and just be able to get away with it, which i think works well on all kits apart from medic. The reason for this is that if you accidently teamkill your medic and and say for example it is only you two alive, or in that area you are unable to pickup his kit and revive him without dying. I think this is incredably frustrating, especially when your medic has just revived you, his head is invisable to you and an enemy comes around the corner infront of you and you tk your medic and then go back forgetting completetly that you are going to die if you pickup his kit, you do and you instantly die.

I know you should crouch or have a diffrent stance from your medic so things like this dont happen but sometimes it just isnt possible

Please let me know your opinion on this, do you ever do this? do you think it should be changed to exempt the medic kit from the tk insta-death pickup?

Smiddey, :D

Absolutely with you on that one. Noone's gonna teamkill someone and steal his medic kit because he's a noob and loves the medic kit so much. Chances the system will be abused are near zero, and reviving someone you just teamkilled seems like a good idea.

I agree. Especially after .9 since you are able to give him the kit back after the revive

i noticed most of the responders to this are relatively new to the forums (and quite possibly the mod) there is an issue with this, first of all the main intended side effect of the team killing punishes is to stop people from TK'ing for kits (as is well known) a second side effect is that it forces you to conduct discipline with your weapon, i would recomend it be left like it is for the reason that it will make you into a better player in the long run.

It's already fixed for next release.

We decided to just remove the penalty for medics.

This is exactly why I urge (and even order) all players in the squads I lead to be in a crouched position, as the medic is healing them (the medic would then be in a prone position). This will give them a clear line of fire, and they won't hit the medic if they have close contact, say, behind them, and they need to respond quickly.

This of course depends on the situation, sometimes you do need for both the medic and the person being healed to be lying down fully in cover.

...the realism aspects of this are of course debatable....

Good stuff db, this was definitely a small yet very needed fix.
