upload new pr also to fileserve
Sorry if this is the wrong section, but i Would just like to suggest that when you upload pr V.95 onto all the file sharing websites, can you also upload it to fileserve.com ?
I am just wondering, because from most of the sites, as a free user, i can only get about 500KB/s, but while on fileserve, i have gotten up to and over 2mb/s... and thats really helpful when downloading big **** like pr =P
Below is kinda useless rambling i typed while i was trying to i guess explain why you should upload it their.
The only problem i might see is if you have to be a paid member to upload files larger then 1gb... but i have seen files larger then a gig up their.
Also if you set it up they will pay you for X amount of downloads, but I don't know if that would be worth it for you to set up the payment thing.... I just looked, its only a little amount of money per 1000 downloads that they pay you
Also, you (usually) need to use a download manager that downloads stuff... like, it trys to download may peaces at the same time.... hard to explain...
Kinda like a torrent works, you are downloading different parts at the same time, then it puts it together, and you have one installed item, I use Internet download manager, but ya...
Any chance you will put the new pr upload onto fileserve?

What you should really do is use a torrent. Chances are you'll start and finish the download faster than waiting for the other site links to be set up.

Dude torrents for me take about..... 3 DAYS
I sorta agree with this... but all you really need to do is Start both DL's and remove PR before you go to bed or work or w/e and by the time you get back to your comp the DLs will be done. and Then all you need to do is install and:
Profit????

There should be something wrong with it.Dude torrents for me take about..... 3 DAYS
Anyway, with our pre-release torrents even 3 days is more than enough
The only bad side of torrents is the fact some ISPs suppress the rates when you use them and/or problems with port-forwarding.

I know... I still hate using torrents because I'm a sorta eco kinda guy, or more or less A guy that turns off his computer so I can save my money.... really I feel like the only here that does that?
So i Can DL it in about 1-3 hours with Mozilla or 3 days with a torrent....

Nope. I turn it off as much as possible to save money. Not the planet. Use Utorrent when watching films, browsing the forums etc. Hell I even leave it running when im playing a lot of games.Johncro wrote:I know... If it takes you 3 days, then it most likely means your program is not setup correctly for maximum speeds.

Some rough calculations, suggest around ?2 to download PR, I'd say that's a bargain. Think of the huge amount more energy you'll use once you get addicted to 0.95.Johncro wrote:I know... 24x3 = 72hours
250W power consumption, 0.25kWh
72*0.25 = 18kWh to download PR
18kWh * 10p/kWh = ?1.80

DLing fail. Took me +/- 3h to dl last big version of PR, and my internet is not OMGWTFBBQ, rather standard for Dutch homes (20mb/s)Johncro wrote:Dude torrents for me take about..... 3 DAYS

Re: upload new pr also to fileserve
on day of release
option 1) have conventional file servers, some people will DL very fast, maybe 2 servers will get reasonable population as a result.
option 2) pre release torrent, people will all have the download finished when the password is released, resulting in multiple full servers.
either way you are going to get the mod at the same time.
afaik after the release conventional file hosters can be used

Dude obviously you haven't been to a shitty internet company.....
I use Bell services, I had better services with a D-Link router then I do with this piece of Shit.
And by all means I would change it, but No cash and no parental authority allows me to change it, by all means if you wish to
a) Buy me new internet services, be my guest
b) Help me setup Utorrent to get the most effective DL speeds.

Have a look at this. Also torrents take quite a while to actually gain speed, so its normal for it to start really slow and take a while to gain speed.Johncro wrote:Dude obviously you haven't been to a shitty internet company.....

But yeah, even if it takes you 3 days in the end, due to the pre-release torrents, it most likely means you will have it before the password is released anyhow

I believe that this kind of speed doesn't impress anyone in the NL, the whole estate i live in is connected to this speed.
I've been a customer to NeostradaTP 7 years ago for 2 years. I had a 128kbps connection for 30euros/month and that's in the Polish capital. My service was not working +/- 5 days a month so please, don't tell me about shitty internet companies.Johncro wrote:Dude obviously you haven't been to a shitty internet company....
Torrents are far superior to any direct DL/hosting. However, keep in mind that when using torrents your upload can limit your download, that's what i had when i was in Belgium. Search for some guides in setting up utorrent (mine works like a charm on default settings but that's another story) and limit your upload. Should work.

Also note that with torrents you need peaple to seed.I had no truble with the pre DL as there were over 200 seeders but anytime after that Im guessing theres alot less.

I stand corrected.masterceo wrote: I've been a customer to NeostradaTP 7 years ago for 2 years. I had a 128kbps connection for 30euros/month and that's in the Polish capital. My service was not working +/- 5 days a month so please, don't tell me about shitty internet companies.
the thing is... I was DL a fairly popular download, something like iirc 300 seeders. I was conencted to about 250.
But my download speed never got over 110kbps.
W/e its not like I can't download PR or anything... i've made the case that I do not use torrents, I only use them if I am completely out of options.

there are about 8500-9000 seeders right nowTrooper909 wrote:Also note that with torrents you need peaple to seed.I had no truble with the pre DL as there were over 200 seeders but anytime after that Im guessing theres alot less.
impress or not, that is still very high speed, above averageI forgot that in Soviet Russia, internet downloads you!

i sit on 9-14mbps day time/100mbps night time and more than happy too.
What you should remember, default measure in bittorrent/utorrent is bytes, not bits. To convert from bits to bytes you need to divide it by 8.But my download speed never got over 110kbps.

If any ISP limits your usage with certain downloaders, such as Torrents, You can tell them not to, since you are downloading legitimate things.
It's pretty much an invasion of privacy, they're limiting on what you can and can't download, meaning they can pretty much see what you are downloading. Very very alarming to me.. =/
That's why my ISP doesn't check my internet anymore after a long conversation over the phone

you have bytes and bits.Johncro wrote:W T F.

if i remember right one megabyte is 1024 bytes but a megabit is 1000 bits, and bits is binary, i think bytes is hexadecimal.
but i know im forgetting something....
anyway, the fastest i have ever had a torrent run is 500kbps, and i normally run 1mbps - 2mb per second on flieserve, but i guess if their is a pre-realise torrent, really dose not matter to much...
