Hmm interesting.
Too bad, i am not using the dl version and we already got 1.5 patch, which supposed to fix the problem. But maybe my bf2.exe is bugged. Did 1.5 remove the cd checks? Maybe i am/were using some kind of cracked bf2.exe to get rid of all the cd changes/mountings of bf2minis.
My bf2.exe is from 20.8.2009 and got 6.403kb size. Can anyone confirm that?
And if my bf2.exe alters to the "normal" .exe, maybe some1 can upload an 1.5 version?

Try running the 1.41 again
followed by 1.5
followed by 1.5

This error message is awefully familiar to me, however I am unable to remember the exact occurence. Following is what my memory resambles:
I used to get second long freezes where the whole PC would not respond. I tracked it down to a JRAID error in Event Manager. If I remember correctly a subsequent error which appeared to be caused by the JRAID error was the one you have mentioned, where gfx had to be reset.
Here is how I solved the JRAID error, and possible your error with it: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f358-s ... opped.html
Question is: are there other critical "System" "Error" events that occur before the BF2 error?
I remember having read about running the game with compatibility option "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop compositions" inconjunction with this error. So you might want to give those a shot as well.
note: since BF2 1.5 the cd is not required any more (your original "BF2.exe" should suffice all your needs)
