Armor crew markers.

Post by QCRulzz »

Search did not got well.

Basically, would it be possible to implant a marker for tank drivers? Oh yeah, SL can mark stuff, but we have 3 drivers, would be nice to have 3 markers, like a 1-9 key, press 4 to mark something, lasts 15 seconds and then disappears? Sometimes in city warfare the degree isnt enought as you must be precise, or just quick.

Any ideas?

Maybe if it will be made like the current laze system, but instead of a laze it is some kind of a marker and the enemy cant see it or lock on it, good idea

Sounds quite complicated, right now lases can be seen by the enemy team as well.

So lets hope the code monkeys can come up with a way to fix this :)

you know, i was keeping this idea to myself so i could try it on my own. the problem would be that aircraft can still see it and lock on to it.

What exactly do you mean 'marker'? As in the current 3d marker that SL's can place, or the actual map-markers they can do with the radio?

To make the driver more interesting, adding the radio interface as an option for drivers would be great. This could actually make recon with recon vehicles possible, such as the BRDM and LAV.

unfortunately no matter what you do to the LAV it will still hold an APC like role, look at the scimitar for example :-|

Use mumble too, then you can talk without annoying the rest of the squad, just put ingame sounds to around 30%.

Like the SL radio thingy, and yes I am using vent, but the guy often hides when he sees the turrets, will be useful to place heat rounds and waiting for the enemy tank to peak out.

As tanks have to communicate with each other I always though adding a 4th seat with only the tank commander's view as an option and then have it be a sort of radio weapon. This would also solve issues where you don't want your 50 cal gunner exposed and would allow for a safe 'engines off' position. Just require it to be a Crew Man position with Squad Limitations.

I don't like the idea of more unrealistic HUD markers.. Would be better if we got rid of the HUD markers completely. Tank crew should be communicating with each other via VOIP or preferably Mumble.

Markers on map on the other hand are great and as dtacs suggested, adding a radio for drivers would be awesome!

lazes im almost certain are doable. alternate comma rose for the driver, maybe. more 3d markers like the squad leader uses, probably not.

theres probably a way to keep aircraft from locking on to tank lazes. and i would almost think it wouldnt matter if the other team can see your laze. it would make sense that a modern tank would have some sort of alarm when being painted by an IR laser.

Just give an SL radio to the crewmen, that woud be awesome. It is already possible for an apc driver to get an officer kit off the vehicle and mark targets. If it could be implemented so the driver doesn't even have to leave the vehicle, even better.

An Armor Squad Leader's job would be easier with these temporary markers. Coordinating 3 or 2 tanks (especially in urban environment) is difficult. Giving out orders to squadmembers, pay attention to the Commmander chat, observing for enemies...much.

afaik there is only 2 lases and both are used already. 1 lase for bombs to lockon to. and 1 for aa. not possible without being able to lock onto it with a manpad. i wonder what the effect in game would be like if we could lase aa marks ? would it really ruin anything to be able to lase for aa from a tank???? on maps like kashan it may interfer because of aa rockets being used for missiles.... but that sounds like fail. if its a light asset and your in a tank trying to get a jet to aa it .... theres bigger problems lol.
