SL actions
im interested in ur opinion. Why do u guys think a lot of SLs dont use officers kits? Alot of time went since 91 was released, but alot of people still dont know how to use radio properly!
What is the reason, people dont want to go deeper in game mechenics? or people are little stupid?
Im interested in it bcs one of the most important questions - why people dont act like a squad often - has only one answer - SLs quality.

Because having a hook and a shotgun instead of pistol and smokes will get you more kills.

Being a good squadleader means taking care of tactics and coordination instead of focussing on firing your weapons, which sadly doesn't correspond to too many players interests. (imho)
But usually the ppl who know how to use the SL position and who deserve to be actually called squadLEADER are the ones who decide about emerging victorious or loosing a round.

Re: SL actions
Yea its too bad so little people use that thing. Its not like the other squad-leaders are always on Mumble. Even when we have a CO I mark stuff down. Usually when I start using it I see more people decide to use it. So I guess thats the only way. Just start using it and it will spread.
I dont think it has to do with the SL ability to lead. When Im playing publicly, I WILL not shout at people. I can to try and get them to follow me, or keep nagging to them that I want them to follow me and my orders, but if they wont, its there choice. They are here to have fun, so am I. I will not call people names just because they dont do what I do.
The PRT is starting up today and in there I will call people on there actions. You'r a squad there. On a public game your just a bunch of random people trying to have fun whilst playing a game.

Ofcourse it is, everything in Pr is about kills.Taran wrote:Seriosly, SLs work is not about ''more kills'.
Why take rifleman and get ammo for AR when you can take specialist and have all necesary stuff to kill everybody.
Specialist > All other kits... Oh, excpet fast ARs, you know, fast fire, acurate = more kills.
And if you take SL and use radio, you are only going to let the rest of the team know where enemies are and they will get kills not you. You sc**w yourself over if you use teamwork in PR.
Also if you attack with more units, enemy will be afraid of you and they may fall back. You dotn want that because then you dont get enough kills. If you only attack with 2-3 specialist kits you kill everybody.
Yes.

I hope Chiznizzle`s post was not serious, I really hope so...
It also depends on server you are playing on. Server whit lot of regulars means usually more good SL`s.

Re: SL actions
its the same problem as alot of people have
they are obsessed with special kits, they are convinced that the spawn kits are somehow inferior....when they are just screwdrivers instead of alum keys. each is a tool that works with other tools. The SL radio is so underrated its unbelievable.

One reason might be is because the can't be bothered to learn the new kit and they don't want to have to do the complex job of SL with a SL kit.

There are people who play this game for teamwork and usually they try to make best of a round and play / order kits according the situation.
But also there are 2nd kind of people who play this game - those who are calling some kits "theirs". For example, a random guy joins my team, spawns somewhere, no questions asked - goes straight to the nearest crate and spams VOIP: "S**t, someone took my marksman rifle!"
I think I understand mentality of theirs. Big gun brings confidence - if you're not confident in your or your squads strength and skill, bring the biggest gun you can

Re: SL actions
I have yet to fire a marksman rifle unscoped or fire a full magazine with it. Or even the regular scoped version. I almost always stick to the standard kits.
Makes me feel like a newb tho!
But what I was trying to say earlier, theres a lot of people who play this game just for fun and not as serious as most of us. Or maybe we are in the minority here
As such, they want to cool kits that can kill tanks, snipe people or call kits theirs. These discussions or opinions about others are usually because we have the serious mindset and want to play the game to the fullest. Whilst there are a ton of people out there who like PR but not as serious as us.

I think I get more fun with epic teamwork > epic kills. Especially if it is epic kills because of epic teamwork.
Also, squads are a hella fun because there are more chances of something funny happening with 6 people than with just one...
I remember playing on Ramiel as a Squad Leader, and I was checking one of the houses up to the north of the map. I turn around. I see an insurgent in the rooftop with an RPG about to fire a rocket at my squad member on the ground level.
I press B to warn him. Too late. BOOOOMM.
Smoke clears. 1 insurgent dead.
Didn't get it? I'll draw.

Gotta love deviation...
Teamwork + Deviation = FUN

Re: SL actions
- There are a lot of squads that get made that are not 'proper' squads. Random player joins, makes a squad, other people join (probably wont use mics) and all just do their own thing. Thus the SL is not critical to what they are doing so they dont bother.
@ The radio point, I use it a lot, however sometimes it is quite hard to use while in combat. - Markers are not always exactly accurate to where you want to put them and a lot of the time you have incoming fire. People usually shoot back first before even trying to spot it on the map.
Personally, the 3 patches on the SL kit are invaluable (and the rally.)

Re: SL actions
I find that when I'm squad leader, the squads performance is directly related to the number of kills I get. The squad always preforms at their best when I have no kills at the end of the round.
How can one lead a squad when they are focusing on shooting an enemy? A good SL looks at the big picture, and uses the squad as their weapon.

I disagree. If the SL cant look at the big picture, lead his squad and shoot enemies then he is doing something wrong.drkstr wrote:How can one lead a squad when they are focusing on shooting an enemy? A good SL looks at the big picture, and uses the squad as their weapon.

step forward or backward one or two times after setting up the range. Than place the marker. Works like a charm ^-^Tim270 wrote:

And just to make sure: I wasnt talking about myself. I like to be ordered around and watch a stairway for 1.5 hours in Muttrah. Well, maybe not the last thing

Re: SL actions
Well I would argue that any attention spent on shooting an enemy is attention not spent on managing how your squad is shooting that enemy. Of course an SL will need to put rounds down range now and again. But in the end the responsibility of the SL should be to coordinate the engagement, not kill the enemy. That is what the rest of the squad is for.L4gi wrote:I disagree. If the SL cant look at the big picture, lead his squad and shoot enemies then he is doing something wrong.
