Its a bullpuped M16, so yes.

Well that Faction was dropped by the leader because the DEV's didnt want to give him a subforum right away without even having anything done.

I've made a little progress in the last few days. Mainly, I've created a simplified grip for the weapon (who needs all those polys when it's obscured 95% of the time?). I've also done up a basic scope and mounting system for the rifle, alongside a hypothetical generic top M1913 rail. Optimisation has also been continued. Cheers to Tonnie for the tips about saving polys on the barrel ;-) .

A DMR variant has been referred to on the Iranian military forums, but I'm yet to see a picture of one or any information regarding optics. Most I've gathered is that it uses a 30" heavy barrel. I have seen pictures of one with what is supposedly a 4x scope, which you can see in the latest post. I haven't seen one with the bipod, accurized barrel and optics at the same time though... Regardless, like much of Iran's newer technology, the Khaybar isn't in major deployment yet, and is currently only seeing use in parts of the Revolutionary Guard Corps. I doubt they've even managed to field any specialised variants yet.

Cheers Rhino :smile: . I still need to add some details (flash hider, grip and rings for a strap mainly) and do some more optimization on it before I UVW map, but it's coming along quite nicely. I've also done some work on an M16A1 to Norinco CQ conversion kit in the last few days, which mainly includes a new stock, hooded sights, a new handgrip and a new pistol grip. The scope from the Khaybar also works with it.

Considering the two are so closely related, the Khaybar being a modified version of the CQ, and that the CQ isn't really a full fledged weapon model I may post some WIPs of both as I go on.

Hey guys

I was involved with the other attempts to make an Iran faction as a consultant with regards to the equipment of the Iranian military.

If anyone needs any technical advice about weapons, uniforms, etc shoot me a PM or contact me at any of Iran military forums mentioned previously (where i go by the same name: Ayyash)

As per the Khaybar DMR variant:
There are 3 variants, one with 680, 730, and a 780 mm long barrel. I have seen pictures of all three and can confirm they exist.

SashaSK8 said he may be able to texture it... Don't get your hopes up though, remember that an asset then needs to be imported, animated and then implemented into the game somehow.

it's looking pretty decent so far, the only questions i got is why you got 3 texture sheets, is it because they belong to interchangeable parts such as the scope and iron sight or what is the exact reason ?

The 3 sheets are totally unnecessary. From what I can see it should be 2 sheets max since the Iron Sights dont look like they can be detached from the rifle leaving only the scope which should possibly go onto anouther sheet. Everything else should be all on one single sheet.

Exactly what i was thinking, the scope can be justified if used on other rifles or weapons too, but dependent on this it needs to be 1 or 2 sheets, too many draw calls and waste if not.

Fixed up scaling and collapsed everything except the scope onto one map. Scope remains unchanged as it is interchangeable with another model I'm working on.
