Problems installing PR

Post by BabylonCome »

I've been playing PR since 0.75 and up until recently I have never experienced problems with installing PR. However, I recently had to reformat my PC due to a nasty virus and since then PR will not install. Here is a few facts:

OS = Vista 64 Ult
CPU = AMD 9850+ Quad
GPU = 2*GeForec 9800 GTX+ SLi
RAM = 4Gb 800MHz Corsair (Duel Channel)

Here is what I did...

Installed BF2, patched to 1.4 then patched to 1.5
Run BF2 and set-up settings and account = no problems, runs a treat.
Clicked on PR 0.909 Core - nothing happens for at least 25mins, rebooted PC.

I have already downloaded and backed up on my server PR 0.909 Core & Maps plus 0.917 patch.

Any suggestions please...?

You have to install BF2 patch 1.41 and not 1.4 before 1.5

I suggest redownloading BF2 patches, as well as current PR files as the virus might have infected your already exsisting ones (which would mean you have backed up infected files) files.

As for not appearing installer, i suggest deactivating UAC for the time of installation

Thanks for your reply, I solved my problem by moving the large exe install files from my server to a location on my local drive before trying to install. It appears my problem was to do with Vista not liking large files and having to cache them over the network before running them.

PR is now fully installed again and tested and working...

Cheers all...
