PR community split?

Post by Quikli »

PR is a pretty popular mod. There are quite a lot of players playing, however in reality, the number of players in PR compared to huge shooters like Call of Duty or such is just a grain of sand.

We have a few populated servers at a time. Tactical Gamer, Chicago HARDCORE, etc. and a bunch of sparsely populated servers. For a mod, it's a lot of people.

However, I'm just concerned that with the release of PR: Vietnam and PR: Arma 2, even with new content coming out for PR: BF2, do you think that these three games will stretch and thin out the playerbase for all three games? Honestly, it would suck to have like only two populated servers in PR: BF2 or PR: Arma 2.

Do you guys think we have enough people to populate PR?

Doubt it. Pr survived for ages when you find it hard to find 1 full server.

Oh look, its this thread again.

Arma will attract more players, specificly arma players. Alot of PR:BF2 players will also not like ArmA, or have the rigs to play it.

Whether Vietnam could split the community depends on if it's integrated into PR or stand alone.

The ArmA2 mod could potentially have negative impact on the BF2 mod playerbase, probably temporarily whilst the optimistic initial-release hype settles down. However I expect most of those who currently don't play ArmA2 much/at all will quickly return to/stay with BF2.

I think it's time pr players moved on, don't get me wrong, pr bf2 has been second to none over the years. I personally have been playing the mod for years and it will be a bitter-sweet day when I move over to PR Arma2. I absolutely love pr bf2 however I know it's time to move on to bigger better and more modern a game. Regarding having the hardware to run PR arma. Well again, time to move with the times and upgrade or purchase a decent PC.
Look what PR did with BF2, now just think what they can achieve with Arma OA.
Here's a toast to PR BF2, I will move onto PR Arma, but I will never forget you. Cheers.

I would like to see PR: Vietnam Integrated into PR:Bf2 but then people with crappy harddrives or crappy interwebz will complain.

As for Arma PR look what Gazz said most Arma only players will probably switch to Arma PR and a lot of community members will probably not be able to run it.

as far as vietnam goes, I hope servers will share Vietnam and PR maps, maybe have a couple of Vietnam maps in a row and then a couple of PR maps. I think most players will like both variations And as for PR: Arma2, I am plenty sure ARMA players will flock to the PR mod and they come from a player base who were looking for a team oriented combined arms kind of game, so do not have to be reeducated and reeindoctrinated to the degree nilla players have to be.

BF2 is an old engine, I am sure over time it will be replaced by PR Arma 2 if it becomes successfull.

PR:BF2 is obviously still being developed and continues to maintain an extremely strong community for a mod.

Counter-Strike has been around for twice as long as PR and is still the most played online FPS.

'Bigger and newer is better' is a flawed concept.

The absolutely insane amount of resources ARMA 2 requires will make it extremely hard to get a large playerbase to start off with. Also, BF2 PR just does PVP better, for starters we will never have big PVP servers for PR:ARMA because our infrastructure is so terrible over here.

We're still a pretty big forum-based community, but comparing to like Call of Duty and the actual Battlefield community, we aren't that big. (But still large, right? :P )
