dtacs wrote:What is the cover like under the trees for infantry? My concern is that this is going to become another map where the assets literally run free as opposed to the inf that has little chance in the way of survival. Are there are alot of those big, 1x1m shrubs as opposed to just grassy undergrowth?
Better, there's a lot of those sunken tree bushes from Silent Eagle, with some shrubs and tree logs in cut down areas and the terrain is very rough.
dtacs wrote:Whats the point of having MB-LB's then? A PKT isn't going to do much if its a vehicle based map. Plus combined arms is when each facet has an even chance. Open ground ala Kashan isn't fun for infantry.

Don't get me wrong I'm not completely judging the map before it comes out, but I'd like to see a 4km map bar Burning Sands where the infantry has a fighting chance, where a single squad can't get absolutely destroyed by some random tanker.
First, the PKT version will be featured more on the infantry layer, second it's a support vehicle, if you're spearheading an attack with it, you're doing something wrong.

About the latter, I'd advise you to stop ignoring armor on armor maps and you're going to hate it even more in 0.95 because a certain feature will make sure you're annihilated unless you do something about the tank looking your way. ;)
You're forgetting that mortars will be featured in 0.95, those can destroy light armor and scare away tanks. Also, PLA gets the PF-98 which is a no-brainer of a HAT.
Ford_Jam wrote: Quick question, of the 25 objectives, are they landmarks amongst the map or will many of them be flags like "Hill 265" or "Objective 424" etc
There's a 2-3 'hill' flags, but there's plenty of cover to go around, I think one is even in the southeast part of the flag where there aren't any roads, so tanks will have headaches trying to survive in there. ;)
Snazz wrote:Finally? Qwai is mostly farmland, Qinling is lightly forested hillsides and Barracuda's vegetation isn't dense enough.

PR hasn't had a jungle map since OGT, there's certainly no shortage of Russian forest maps.
Well, I apologize to you and would like to redirect to you to my colleague's Burning Sands map, there's barely any trees there.

I have been waiting for more maps with conventional forces and conventional forces only, and it sure does seem like we're getting more of them (it's damn near the only mode I enjoy playing on public servers).
Having Russians fight PLA seems like a nice innovation, like Rus vs IDF on Beirut is (still wondering why they're fighting in Lebanon though), and I certainly would like to see more 'OpFor vs OpFor' in the future.

...I can't wait to get my hands on a MT-LB

No worries, I wasn't complaining about trees. I was pointing out to Maxfragg that PR doesn't currently have any dense jungle maps.

Anyway, good job on the landscape and atmosphere. I particularly like the look of these:

Manchuria - sweeeeet. We can simulate the border wars the USSR and China used to have in the olden days.

This. PR is already affecting my studies negatively, I dare not imagine what happens after the release of 0.95 :? ??:

i did not mean jungle as dense vegetation, but as how the arrea feels, so i guess tropical would fit Barracuda, right? qinling is woodland, thats right, but i guess its on the list of maps to be removed/completely reworked before the magic 1.0 and qwai still feels like it would take place more in the south of china
like Yamalia
I'd sign that every day, since Yamalia is a great mapl, since it has wide terrain and you are really free where to move, while lot of other maps simply have a big number of fix paths to walk/drive on
