very nice work, good to see a nice high rez texture for future proofing too, just remember to down size it for going into BF2 :)

also before you begin making lods have it pass through me and rhino since it will have to be put through a few methods

Looks nice, personally I would de-contrast the base material, the black paint looks very "cloudy" to me
