My question is this: Is there anywhere in the world where the middle-eastern style housing and asian-style structures can feasibly overlap, perhaps if necessary separated by water or some other sort of transition? There's a world of amazing statics on both sides that would definitely benefit the map I'm working on, but I'm not sure if it would look strange having a mud-brick style building down the road from a building with an asian roof.
What I could possibly do here is separate the cultures by some kind of physical landmark, such as a body of water, a mountain, perhaps an industrial area with influences from both - but my question is whether or not you think it can be done in a feasibly realistic manner without looking silly.

Re: [?] Middle Eastern/Asian statics
If your map is based in China then the ME City statics can just pass for Chinese City statics and then you can use the chinese village statics for small villages outside the city, or for the suburbs or w/e but frankly putting chinese statics into a ME map isn't really an option
You also need to consider the amount of texture pallets your loading, each type of static has a whole range of new pallets to be loaded and you need to ask yourself is it really worth loading these pallets? if your using them on a lot of staitcs, like your going to have both a lot of chinese and ME statics then the answer is yes but if your only going to have one or two chinese/me buildings then its a big no.
