I hate mumble because everytime I see the opposite team using it, they win !
Jking, the best rounds I ever had was using mumble.

I use mumble but everytime I turn it on it reduces PR's volume by 3/4 which means I can't hear in-game and voip sound effects -.-

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
For me, the mumble PR0.5 beta crashes a lot while in game, it makes my mouse feel really slow when it happens and I need to alt-tab and close the process to stop it. If I try to restart mumble right after that, it gives an error message..
This would mean I have to restart my game for it to work again which can't be pulled of because the good servers are always full and most of the time it takes about 15 mins to join back in..
I'm on a Windows 7 64bit system, using a G5 laser mouse from Logitech, don't know if the problem has anything to do with the above, but it keeps me away from playing PR with mumble on. I prefer TeamSpeak 3 more, because it doesn't crash. It also has 3d positional capabilities, it might be worth looking into creating a plug-in for TS?

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I do use mumble and i like it!
It's kinda hard to setup the servers as admin and the user interface could be alot better, but the voice quality, latency and cpu usage of mumble are really good for me and alot of other users. Also considering that mumble is only 0.15 EUR/slot and vent & ts3 are 0.25 EUR/slot (atleast at FRAGNET).
So the price & the quality outweighed the bad userinterface for me!

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I use it whenever I play PR and I've only had maybe 2 occasions where I've had to alt-tab out of game and jump back in the channel I was in because of burp in the system or whatever, other than that I have had no problems with it, IMHO It's a great thing for PR.

I shouldn't need 3rd party software to play a game more efficiently.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I love it, and bigD has a fairly amount of people using it.
I remember the first time i ever used it, talking to the INF sqds while in a tank and giving them suppport.
but yeah the main problem is not many people use it.

Maybe on the next update, the first 1 or 2 pages of the manual can be a step by step guide on how to install mumble, although the installer of mumble is a step by step guide on how to install mumble.

Its not really organics and isnt easy like in Arma2.
Getting spammed out is another thing I dont like. TS+in game+mumble = brain meltdown.

Other: People tend to be spammy and say "MUMBLE" 1000 times during playing. I don't use it anymore...

Then why did you DL PR for BF2?ebevan91 wrote:I shouldn't need 3rd party software to play a game more efficiently.
Saying "Mumble, mumble" is the unofficial way of asking others if they are receiving you through mumble. A quicker and less intrusive way of saying "Hey..Hey guys, can you hear me on mumble? Anyone hear me?"HunterMed wrote:Other: People tend to be spammy and say "MUMBLE" 1000 times during playing. I don't use it anymore...
But really, all these stories of spamming youths and trolling trolls...It just sounds like your on the wrong server in the first place, if there are players like that about!

I just hate when people start to sing in SL channel. Yesterday some guy named wicca(?) was singing in TG's SL channel with his whiny voice

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
Not agree with all, but, that's what I always wanted => Mumble integrated in PRmod! With this method, no problem anymore!drkstr wrote:1. It's extra work
2. It's complicated (unless you are computer savvy, which not everyone is)
3. Most mumble users are smug **** holes... jk
I can guarantee you that despite what this poll says, it's #1 that's preventing it from being commonly used.
I only use mumble on TG. It's just not worth the extra work for something that is just about useless on most servers. I think for it to really be used by enough people, it needs to somehow be integrated into the mod. Perhaps as an automated background process that is run when you fire up PR...
*EDIT*
Also, this poll will be skewed. You are only polling a subset of the game population. I would bet that the percentage of mumble users is higher in regular forum goes vs non forum goers. The hard truth is that people are generally lazy, and don't bother doing something which does not provide them immediate satisfaction.

Nah, not really. I know which servers are good and what times you should play. So maybe I am unlucky but I am not using mumble anymore...[R-MOD]Mongolian_dude wrote:Then why did you DL PR for BF2?

People who say "mumble, mumble" obviously know mumble already. How would they know the inofficial call... New people ask: Can you hear me?
So, some might be new and say mumble mumble but in the end everyone who hears it will reply again and again...

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
Because it has too many configurations and no server side configuration...
So if i configure it to hear only in 10-50meters other can configure it to hear much far away and that's shit.
If theres no SERVERSIDE config i will not use it.

I do use it occasionally but most of the time I don't because almost noone uses it. It's a shame imo though. Good program with unique sound effects.
