Question regarding installation of .95 once it is released

Post by drs79 »

Is it safe to say that we should delete the Jabal 2 map and patch and the Burning Sands map before we install .95?

^Just curious, due to what I can only believe will be a very large download/installation as well as the chance that files get installed over one another.....

If my above statement about files getting installed over each other is wrong my apologies my knowledge of computer is very limited and this is the first time in a very long time that I have in fact DL and installed maps within PR that were not included in the original DL.

Yeah, Randy, it'll probably be a good idea to delete everything due to it being a complete seperate install and not a patch. Plus the Jabal 2 and Burning Sands maps we played on TG were betas and not the final releases so..

I think the 095 installer will overwrite previous versions of BS and Jabal.

.95 will be released in 3 parts, so it's huge. that and a statement of the dev's makes it safe to assume it won't be a patch but a complete new build so you shouldn't bother with the old files except that you may want to delete them before installation incase the new build uses the same mapname in the mods folder.

zephyr already stated this in an above post btw ;)

The 0.95 installer automatically deletes your "mods/pr" folder before installing the new version so any old versions of maps etc that you have will be removed if contained within that folder. If you wish to retain those files then you need to rename your "mods/pr" folder prior to installation.

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

Yes, those are stored in a separate fold in your documents.

You do not need to uninstall anything for 0.95 installers to install correctly. You can if you really want to go to the extra hassle, but it's not a requirement for everything to go smoothly.

When it comes, all you need to do is install part 1, part 2, and part 3. You should definitely get the torrent if you don't want to deal with corrupt installers and whatnot. If you get the preload torrent, you'll will just need the password.

All settings will carry over. You're shader cache will get rebuilt automatically.

Just make sure you read the instructions and prompts so you know what is going on, and you'll be fine :) .

Hope that answered all you're questions.
