Darkwolf has a real good point.

Epic Fail

From the Bundeswehr Design PlanMAPS
5 maps that are being made / done:
Silent Eagle (former Airborne) 4x4km ; GER vs. RUS: Will probably make appearance in 0.9 without german forces.
Arzan Kar Region 1x1km GER vs. Taliban: Needs some fixes, object lightmaps etc, other than that done.
Lashkar Valley 2x2km GER vs. Taliban: Will be in 0.9 with GB as placeholder. Will get changed to GF vs TAL when the Germans are released.
Iron Thunder 4x4km GER vs. RUS/CH: Is making good progress. Im optimistic for a realease after 0.9.
jormdarreh 4x4km GER vs. Taliban: On hold but great potential.

P.S. Also if you check in Google Earth Lashkar is no where near Helmand...

Ok so am I right in saying the Bundeswehr community Devs made the original Lashkar Ghar map for the German team which is why its not featuring the Brits anymore?

This is correct. The map was made from the start for the Bundeswehr, but as it was finished early it was added to PR with Brits as a placeholder in the same way as Operation Archer changed from US Army to CF once they were complete.13DarkWolf wrote:Ok so am I right in saying the Bundeswehr community Devs made the original Lashkar Ghar map for the German team which is why its not featuring the Brits anymore?

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

Isn't Lashkar the capital of Helmand? The Iron Dreamer wrote: P.S. Also if you check in Google Earth Lashkar is no where near Helmand...

The map was "generic Afghanistan" from development it wasn't intended to be a real world scenario, hell for a while people were trying to lay claim to it for every faction: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f354-c ... n-map.html

Re: Quick question about Lashkar Ghar 0.95
Lashkar Ghar IS the provincial capital of Helmand, Afghanistan, but doesn't seem to be a place called "Lashkar Valley", rather there is a more popular term for a valley in Helmand--"Helmand Valley". However, the lush "green zone" around the river on the PR map is iconic of the green zone in Helmand.
The German military operates heavily in Kunduz and Kabul, as well as in Baghlan, Mazar-i-Sharif, Taloquan and a few other northern areas. It's surely a guess on my part but I don't think any of these provinces are known for their "green zone" valleys.
Edit for Spinkyone's post: Yeah, as an addendum I'd like to add that it doesn't really matter too much, in fact, it would be fun to see how German forces tackle the same map differently.

If the Germans don't get Lashkar they will only have Silent Eagle, right? Ain't nothing but fair to give them an insurgency map, considering how many the maps where we play as Brits are.

Re: Quick question about Lashkar Ghar 0.95
If you havent noticed, it is sole russian responsibility, in RL, to fight the chechens, but the british have like 3-4 maps with them. I know they called militia now, but still. So it doesnt really matter, man.13DarkWolf wrote:Hi all,
Congrats on the new trailer devs it looks fantastic!
But to the question, why is Lashkar Ghar being changed to Germany vs Taliban, and having read other posts some were saying it was always designed for these 2 forces.
Considering the actual ISAF PRT deployments in Afghanistan, Helmand Province is still Britain's responsibility and has been so since 06, while Germany are still deployed in Kunduz province so why is the current map going to be changed from Britain vs Taliban to Germany vs Taliban in 0.95?:
Out of interest also does that mean Sangin will eventually become USMC vs Taliban taking into account the handover there.
Im just wondering why that change is being made though, I respect the fact that there has been military advisers involved in 0.95 and either way Lashkar Ghar is still one of my fav maps.
Best of luck with the release lads and thanks for the great work!

Re: Quick question about Lashkar Ghar 0.95
Yes, the British are currently in Lashkar Ghar but the Germans currently occupy a very "low risk" zone in Afghanistan, therefore it makes sense to give them a region such as Lashkar where there would be higher resistance to ISAF forces.
