Will any of the western tanks be getting IR smoke? AFAIK the smoke from CR2s, Abrams, Leo2 etc is Infrared so the tank is actually obscured from the enemies' thermal sights.

Not sure if Russian tanks have the same type of smoke or if it's just plain old black smoke.

'[R-DEV wrote:Sniperdog;1457730']The thermals that will be in pr are very different from the ones in ca. The ones in ca were just a visual effect (a color inversion of sorts) to make it look like thermals. In pr the thermals actually highlight things that are hot.
sniper you grown soo much from the time working on ca  So will i be able to see inf through trees for example then?

You cant see through objects, but through smoke, fog etc., its easier to distinguish things in FLIR, but harder to identify which faction they belong to.

From image on first page I can see that weapons glow as well, is this intentional?

I think so, weapons are hot after you shoot them.

This please. Though I imagine it may be a difficult thing to implement, having IR Strobes would definately help out to reduce the increase in FF that not having it would cause.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Why harder? Don't they have IR tabs or identification material?

Oh yeah, FLIR will bring TK into gameplay for sure :D

Actualy in conventional warfare no. If you put IR strobes you're flashing like a chrismas tree in the thermal wich make you an easier target.

I don't understand why is everyone so fussed about TK's. If someone TK's me with a cobra imo he failed hard.

How to check if its a friendly. Put a marker on it, check the map, DONE.

Or only use FLIR for finding the target and switch back to normal optics for IDing and engaging it. That's what I do in OA.

If you're not squad leader you cant actualy. You will have to [guesstimate] "guesstimate" every time you will engage any infantry.[/guesstimate]. For now its hard to tell since we dont know the resolution but it will cause tk that a sure thing :P

True, but in most cases you simply overlook a target. Once you've pinpointed its position you'll see it in normal vision, too (unless it's dark outside).
