Alright just a technical question:
Why does free looking in vehicles lock out all other command inputs? Are you capable of bypassing it?
I had this, in my mind, awesome setup where mouse is rudder control and joystick contains the freelook button... I can free look near perfectly now... its just I can't fly in anything other than a straigh line and free look.
Then I also noticed Mosquill's TrackIR Havok in CA and wonder if that by passed it or was just from the ground up new.

I wondered that too, when I want to look around I have to up speed a bit and point the mouse up in a jet. I assume its suicidal when piloting an attack copter.

Assign such a movement/button/whatever to include both Free-look button and direction of view...supahpingi wrote:how is that related or solving the problem?
I mean, I think the OP is saying that you can't assign a free-look button to a joystick, right?
Or whatever else similar, I'm pretty sure you can do that with xpadder.

Re: Free Look Lockout!
Freelook locks out all controls while flying, which is an issue i believe the "TrackIR hack" is meant to fix in the future. As far as i know, that hack is also FreeTrack compatible. ^_^

Re: Free Look Lockout!
Only locks out mouse (and possibly joystick movement?), iirc.
Keyboard controls like WASD + arrow keys do still work.
If it locks out joystick movement too, you could probably pull a workaround by assigning the look-movement to a HAT switch or something.

By making the joystick have digital outputs you lose analogue control. Arrow keys are only off or on iirc.goguapsy wrote:Or you could assign joystick and mouse movements to arrow-keys as a work-around with xpadder.
What is this HAT switch?

HAT switch is that POV button on top of the joystick.ytman wrote:By making the joystick have digital outputs you lose analogue control. Arrow keys are only off or on iirc.
What is this HAT switch?
Ex.
Joystick elements: #1 Stick; #2 Base; #3 Trigger; #4 Extra buttons; #5 Autofire switch; #6 Throttle; #7 Hat Switch (POV Hat); #8 Suction Cup
And I think with xpadder you can assign "analog" mode, something like that. If not, all you gotta do is don't use analog mode on free-look!
