This is the most effective way of using APCs, technicals, all vehicles (EXCEPT tanks) Used this way the vehicles can be real devastating. Inflict lots of damage, get out of dodge before the enemy can regroup and fight back. And it seems to me, this is not how they ought to be used. They should be used as support to infantry. Move with them, support their fire, move them around, etc. But when APC or HMMVEE squads try to do this, they become easy targets and don't last long.
So how to fix this? Any ideas? Mine would be to make firing impossible at high speeds (add two speed settings - slow/Fire and Fast/transport), and make RPGs and AT kits more limited.
Any other ideas?

If you don't know... armor is basically supposed to do this. IFV clears the area, drives as close as possible to the area to be attacked, infantry moves in, IFV starts running about trying to help accomplish the objective ASAP, then have the infantry remount and everyone scurry off before they've actually realized what's happened.

Perhaps implement a form of deviation at high speeds, so that it's still posible to fire but the shots are wildly innacurate.
Although this might not be so realistic, because vehicles like the Abrams tank can be driving 30 mph and still accurately fire and hit a target with their main gun. They have really good fire control computers.
I know what you mean, though. Eariler when I was playing on Muttrah I was stalking a Marine APC with a HAT, moving slowly up the street, and it just roared around the corner and blasted me with HEAT rounds before I could even sight-in on the HAT.
Can't really think of a good fix for this, however. Adding a form of deviation might work, but since the targets the APCs are engaging are so close in proximity, it might not have much effect.

Perhaps a cap on max turret rotation rate would help (Already going to be implemented, hint hint)

I don't see a problem here. So you basically want to make vehicles useless and not act realistically? If a vehicle is doing this, then don't stand out in the open... The reasons the IFV/APC is doing this is for survivability. Vehicles are meant to be feared in PR. It should be difficult to take them down as infantry. That is the big reason they're adding thermals to any vehicle that has them in real life. They're trying to make vehicle more deadly than they are now. If infantry didn't get wrecked by vehicles, then whats the point?
Also, H-AT is best used on stationary, slow moving, or targets moving directly at you(the point-guided ones that is). It is much easier to hit a moving target with a L-AT or TOW.

This is the kind of thinking that got the Frenchies *** kicked in WWII (No offense, but your tanks did suck... well most of them anyway). Armoured Vehicles are actually the new Calvary. Sure they support infantry, but they are designed for quick lightning attacks, and that is the role the excel in. The concept of the plodding infantry support tanks is outdated and inefficient. If anything, more needs to be done to help the fast moving attacks.npsxbox wrote:This is the most effective way of using APCs, technicals, all vehicles (EXCEPT tanks) Used this way the vehicles can be real devastating. I definitely agree that more needs to be done. Probably the best thing is figuring out turret stabilization. Ohh that would make me squee even harder than did the FLIR/TITirak wrote:This is the kind of thinking that got the Frenchies *** kicked in WWII (No offense, but your tanks did suck... well most of them anyway). So people like it being as for drive by shootings? That's not how I see APCs, HMVEES or techinicals on the news reels.
But hey, that's just me.

ISnt drive by shooting the things you do in real life sitting on a hilltop makes you an easy target for most AT soldiers.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.
"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordion. All you do is leave behind a lot of noisy baggage."
