Scoped weapons vs Iron Sights

Post by LegioX »

Is there a major statistical difference between scoped weapons and iron sights
Because if there isn't why would anyone choose an iron sight weapon.

Unsure just how much faster they made the sight ins for scopes now but at least as ove the current version, Iron Sights you sight in alot faster and can get in accurate fire at close range than you would with a scope where you are pretty much limited to spray and pray. At longer ranges youl want a scope but for those maps where youl have alot of close quarters like urban maps iron sights/eotech/aimpoint, etc are the way to go. Ive gone around corners, sighted in and put in two or three shots killing a target in the time he spent unloading half a magazine trying to hit me.

Iron sights/aimpoint have considerable advantages at close range.

1. Doesn't take as long to bring up the sight (right click)
2. Easier to target nearby enemies because of no zoom
3. Much better peripheral vision
4. Less recoil (I believe)

Edit: You beat me to it lol

You can shoot while running if you like, makes me feel better that I'm putting rounds down range.

I particulary love red-dots and ironsights (and will sure love PR's eotech), but I find myself going more for scoped weapons due to my big (250+) ping, which means I have to have a considerable time advantage over the enemy on CQB, not so much in med to long range situations.

EDIT: Scopes suck at CQB.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Like everyone else had said, Iron sights/red dots/eotechs etc are the way to go in close quarters situations. Also, some kits dont have scoped weapons like the medic. This keeps some kits from being super kits and also encourages people to do the actual job the kit was designed for.

Also I like the choice. Im more of an ironsight guy myself. There are some maps where you can succeed with either, on those maps il usually choose ironsights. Its nice that I have that choice.
