PR crashes on starup

I downloaded BF2 patch 1.5
Downloaded microsoft installer 3.1
and the PR 1/2 and 2/2.

First i installed BF2 via CD and it worked, i then donwloaded the 1.5 patch and installed it a day later, with it telling me that i already have a newer version installed.

So i went to PR 1/2 and installed it via the exe and it told me it first install Microsoft framework 3.1. but since i couldn't find one, i kept seeing alt links to microsoft installer 3.1. So i installed that instead and reinstalled PR 1/2 and it worked, it then installed windows framework 3.5. I installed PR 2/2 and it worked as well. (I restarted my PC as well)

I have PR 0917 on my desktop, I double click it and it shows the PR window then goes black and says Cyam8 and dies.

So i tried a few suggestions in other topics such as changing my reso 800x600@60Hz in the vid.con file, Still crashes

My PC is fair old but i have never had an issue with BF2. I have not opened BF2 since the new installation (brb doing that now) and then opening PR. Where my problem may lie is that... i actually never installed 1.5 patch but it said i had a newer one which wouldn't allow me to install it.

tried opening BF2, It crashes on startup as well

You need to install patch 1.41 before 1.5.

If you installed 1.5 without installing 1.41, yes
You're going to have to uninstall and start again.
