[Help] Lightmap not fully done ?

Hi !

OK,I create a map this week and I would like to test it with the lightmap but even after 2 hours of compiling,I only got 1/4 of the tree who got there lightmap...
Montains are ok but the tree light is just not fully made !

I try to resume the compiling no change,delete the lightmap folder and recompile no change,compile on low instead of medium no change.I'm kinda running out of idea rigth now,any thing you think could help ?

How many overgrowth objects do you have? If you have too many (70,000 or so) then it will often cause problems like this. Amok@ndy had this problem and I'm pretty sure the answer was to reduce the number of trees.

Give it a shot and let us know. If that doesn't work, we'll think of something else.

I have 145,250 or so ^^'

I'll remove a bit to see if it solve the problem

Yeah, that's way more than the BF2 engine can handle. You can either 1) clear areas of trees or 2) change the density of the existing trees... but you should try to get below 70,000.

Ok I drop down the number to more or less 60,000 overgrown.Compiling rigth now I'll keep you inform ^^

Edit:Almost ! 90% have ligthmap so yeah that was the problem ! Thanks to put me on the good way to solve my problem ^^

this can be caused by different things

1. limit of OG objects seems to be around 99999 trees (if you have more they are not visible ingame but wont cause a ctd)
2. press the Generate All button again and its usually also fixed (i spent 1 week to get my map fixed :S)
3. get to another computer and try it there (worked for me)

I think 99,999 is way too high. Once I reached about 45,000 I started having problems with the top row of my terrain lightmap. I wonder if static objects also impact the total number?

Unless I find a solution, I'm going to have to reduce my OG number (it's currently 48,921). :(

I tell ya, doing a wooded 4km map is becoming a real pain in the butt. I wish I had a big coastline to fill with water or a desert with no vegetation.

AF try lightmapping on a different computer and see if it works, my laptop was able to render the map without problems while my computer messed up the upper line

I wish I had another computer to test it on. :(

So you're thinking that 48,921 OG objects probably isn't the problem? I wonder if it's something else that I did or added, etc. As we know, the editor is so finicky... anything can break it.

I'll back-track and see if I can figure it out.

Hmm, I don't understand why I'm having a problem then.

I backup my map every few days and thus was able to look back at the minimaps over the last few weeks. With 43,317 OG objects, the map looks fine... but with 48,921 there are areas along the top that don't show tree shadows. I've re-saved everything and tried it several times with no change (or success).

its bugged ;) if you want pass it over to me and ill have a look and try 1 or 2 tricks maybe im able to fix it and if not dont care about it and generate your lightmaps in 3ds later :)
