0.95 insurgency mortars

Post by DEADLY_sniper »

Today I played one round of insurgency and this is what squad did:
1. Spawn on unknown cache , deploy hideout, let one guy dig it and deploy 2 mortars, let the rest of the squad dig them.
2. Place attack marker on blufor main, take a ruller, measure the distance call for an mortar barrage right onto it.
3. Let 2 guys supply the mortars from ammo crates from cache. Other 2 keep shelling enemy main. Redo the mortar request order if needed.
4. Profit

Basically this will cause all blufor except few rushing people die in agony and then die again and again.. If a truck makes it out of enemy main and makes a FOB, it still will take hell amount of time to activate and people most likely will spawn in main till then. Guarranteed win tactic...

Although I was the one shelling the main, I can imagine how was the other teams game.. You should fix it asap or insurgency gets unplayable.
Another story is the duration of rounds, they are too short now. Game ends after 20-30 min fight over one flag... n/c

That's because you play on crappy servers that still let you baserape. ^_^

Nobody has even thought of making up new rules. This only happens on servers where baserape is okay. If you are still playing on this servers, I pity you :P

And it's not "broken". They can just truck rush you, and you are totally giving away the cache by placing the mortars right beside it.

Perhaps blufor should try and spot the insurgent requesting the motar strike?

Perhaps the massively loud sounds of 2X mortar crews will get an anti-mortar group going.

No no no, I can request mortar strike from anywhere in 800 m radius of enemy base.. even behind 100m thick wall. Appearantly you havent try to request strike yet  Even the mortar gunner can request the strike right on enemy base by himself if he has officer. I was doing that whole time.. hidden in locked compound aiming at wall when requesting

UKWF server ... most servers allow insurgents to baserape.

Yeah coz they will accidentally drive around unknown cache area in first 1-2 minutes of game.. Mortar doesnt give away the cache position any more than a hideout.. Truck rush? How will they know the location of unknown cache?? even if, you will drain them so many tickets by shelling that base that they lose before they can do anything

I Laughed out loud on this one.

If you are explaining how it's "Broken", but saying it's okay to baserape, but saying other servers allow it, well, that kinda tells you something doesn't it?

When mortars fire, they give off a huge "boom" sound. It's pretty obvious. Trucks driving around could easily find the mortars, and kill them.

And hideouts don't shoot giant balls of HE into the sky at main, unless you'd like to show me your new mortar silencers your working on for the next release ;)

Hm well I am not sure. I havent hear that huge boom sound.. maybe my volume was low.. Anyway when the cache is 1 km from blufor main its quite safe, besides only 1-2 squads get out of the enemy main before mortars start annihilating everything.. draining about 50 tickets of assets and lives in first minute - and wont stop, that means no reinforcements for those squads unless they build a FOB (which takes 5 min at least (5 min of noobs dying and respawning in main))
I am not saying its okay, but that current server rules allow it.. (and its broken)
