Ridiculously Long Download Times

Post by Sidewinder Zulu »

Hey guys, sorry if someone's brought thsi up already, looked but didn't see anything.

Anyway, I've got a pretty straightforward but annoying problem: I have huge download times for all three parts of .95

My computer is brand new with a good processor, my internet connection is at 5-bars (excellent) and I have no other programs running in the background, but I'm getting huge download times on the three parts.

First I had 399 hours (WTF? :-? ) and then I cam back, it down to 27 hours, and then it settled at 15 hours.
I thought it might go down again over time, but that was two hours ago and it now just says 15 hours for part 1, 33 hours for part 2, and 18 hours for part 3.
In the past, it's never taken me more than an hour to download the files, and installation is always really fast.

Should I just resolve myslef to not being able to play .95 until tommorow evening, (sadface) or is there anything I can do to speed up the downloads?
Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Also, I haven't been able to download it via Torrents, since my computer can't read that type of file.
I looked online for a fix, but every program that I can get to let me read Torrent files involves paying for it, or looks somewhat shady. :?

Anyway, could downloading via Torrents as opposed to Fileplanet or Moddb fix the problem? And if so, anyobody know where I could get the Torrent fix for free?
Thanks.

You need a torrent program like Utorrent or limwire to DL and read torrents.

Thay are free and should DL PR in 1 and a half hours (was for me) also torrents are more likely to not get corrupted in the DL process.

*edit* just read your post fully. I personaly use limwire and have no problems with it just pick the free option.
The links here should take directly to the files and start DLing them so you dont have to worry about knowing what your doing.
you could even just delete the torrent program when its done if you dont like them that much

Alright, thanks very much for the advice.

I downloaded the Torrents application and started downloading the .95 files onto my computer via Torrents, and it seems to be working fine.
Still getting some pretty long download times (in between 6 and 15 hours) but that's better than 33 hours, I guess...

I appreciate your help. I guess I'll just play PR tommorow morning, should be done by then.
