Does this recent version run any better?

Post by Dragonfire43560 »

My game turned unplayable as soon as the IDF and hamas patch was released. No idea why. I used to run it on medium to high smooth, but now I cant even run it on all low over 15 FPS. Thats quite the drastic change. The new patch looks awesome, but I didn't see "Improved performance" in the changelog.

So I assume its the same? :(

There was after 0.9 that fixed all the lag.

There was a lot of optimization work on the maps that were causing fps drops and lag so overall yes i'd say it does, from what i've been able to gather. Now some people have reported FPS drop problems that weren't present in the previous version but that may just be specific to some people and not overall(i've never had any FPS issues if anything it runs better).

I'd say that it isn't any more intensive than the other patches if somewhat better and smoother.

The new maps seem to have super high view distances with loads of details. So they run shitty on bad computers :/

There's random CTD's, mind you, but thats being fixed. Don't give up if that happens to you, these will not stay for long :)

Off-topic but hilarious: I recently had a bug on Muttrah in the MG variant of the MTLB. My screen was telling me the thing had no ammo, and it just didn't reload whether or not I was near a re-armament point. When I clicked, I heard the gun dry-fire and that was it.

BUT, my squad-mates were telling me that on their screens, the weapon was actually firing! Later in that round, we pulled up to an enemy infantrymen, so I aimed and heard the *click* that indicates no bullets, and then, he dropped to the ground dead! I felt like such a jackass driving around the whole time pointing at things and dry-fire clicking at them, even though in everyone else's eyes the MG was firing just fine.

i run on all lows minus view distance and even with 3gbs of RAM cant play with over 10 bots without lag. it fking sucks. its because of my mediocre video card i think

RAM for loading, CPU for thinking, GPU for drawing. Video card has little to do with bots thinking on what they are doing ;)

My old computer is running the new patch better than the old patch. Much better, I can run everything on high again.

it runs a lot smoother for me, but that could just be cause i formatted everything recently and started my comp fresh. but over i feel the sudden FPS drops have gone away for the most part.

I feel you man. It's the maps. I can play AL Burj with awsome FPS but all new maps make the fps drop like crazy. I personly think that the DEVS have made a mistake and gone too far with the maps. Some of them are not even fun to play.

It runs amazingly better for me. In 0.91 I got 40 fps with medium settings on most maps now I get 70-100 fps on all high! I don't get random CTD's the only time I CTD is when I press disconnect. I think that those "random CTD's" are people getting memory errors as they dont have enough ram for the settings they are running.

Don't think so, it happens to a lot of players at the exact same time in the same server.. I got 12GB DDR3-1600 RAM, sadly bf2 cannot use all of it but I bought it to make my life easier when rendering/editing video so I don't really care. So I don't see RAM or any hardware being a problem because it happens to people with all kinds of rigs, good or bad.

The only experience I had crashing so far was when playing on the new desert map(forgot the name) as a sniper team with a good friend when all of a sudden we both CTD'd at the same time. We decided to stop because it was late so I didn't rejoin the server to check if it happened to more people, but we had this before some versions back and they fixed that very well and fast. So, you should just enjoy the games you can play and it will be fixed, probably server side since that was the case back then if I remember correctly.

Some of the maps have been optimised and run a lot better now, while some of the new maps still need tweaking. Overall performance is way better than the initial 0.9 release.

Those 10 bots do need to be rendered and drawn by the rest of his system tho
