I will accept foreign squads, with another language as long as they communicate in English in Game-chat and communication between squads, because my Eastern-Neighbours have a very hard language. As long that you won't get 4 German squads on an English server like the Koreans do.

Am I the only one who thinks that this question is a joke ?! Of course people are going to speak their native language. Almost every game, there is a PL, a RUS, a SWE, a FR and a GER squad. And of course all the self important american "Recon", "SpecOps", "Tactical VOIP" and "Disciplin Inf" (sic).

We all know that foreign languages aren't the favourite thing of the Brits, but that doesn't give you the right to prohibit them. That is almost discrimination. People are going to be much more efficient in their native language anyway (especially when it comes to reporting something in a hurry).

Look at it the other way: PR is a melting pot of international players (just like a real war :-s) and I may be speaking for myself, but I've met some interesting international people ingame. Diversity shold be compulsory IMO :)

Luckily i understand german, but its a handucap not being able to communicate with them fully.

I actually dislike to play in my own language because in the end ill be using so much PR terms that are in english that ill be talking english anyway... So it doesnt make so much difference in the end, plus others english only players can come in easily.

But French COs in an english server piss me off like a mofo.

As someone that only speaks English, being an ignorant brit (Well, ignoring a few lines of Swedish I've picked up from WoW), I have no problem with others that only know their native language, and don't expect anyone who's not either English or American to speak English just because I'm there. If I end up in a squad that's not speaking english, but isn't flagged as a language squad, I either leave it, or just tag along anyway. It's often not difficult to understand what you're being told to do if you listen hard enough.
A journalist, interviewing a US marines sniper, asked what he felt when he shot a terrorist.

The sniper shrugged, and replied. "Recoil."

I made a rant about the exact same thing a few years back....but can't seem to find that thread.
Anyway, I avoid german servers like Thors Brigade and 10th because they are German and have alot of non-english squads.

On UKWF, T&T and TG they seem to be alot less common

If there are enough players to fill a german squad, why not, as long as the squadleaders interact with the other squadleaders in english.

Feel free to speak whatever language you like when starting a squad, and make it apparent in the squad name.

If you don't speak said language, learn. :)

When a squad is completely oblivious to the rest of the team because of the language barrier, your team will suffer.

Perhaps the admins could put them on the same side, so at least you have a partially functioning team.

I enjoy playing with Germans and French. A squad with different European nationalities is more fun.

Alselius, why can't you play in UK servers? Their ping only slightly differs from servers located in Germany. Btw, I can easily play in US servers (ping ~200), the ping doesn't mean anything, because the server "fixes" the difference between each players ping or smthn.

True to dat. And usually theres more radio silence and less voipspam.

I as SL usually don't have problems with europeans understanding my english, it's the americans, heh. "Sorry, SL, can't understand what you're saying". Anyway, my spoken english skills are much better now, thanks to PR.

Generally I hate language-locked squads. I am from Germany, but I try to avoid even the GER squads. The game is, as said, international and so is the community. English is THE international language and therefore I speak english every time I play PR. The only difference is, if it turns out you got only german players in your squad (Unfortunately most of the german players do not change back to english if there joins a player who doesn't speak german).

I've seen a round with 3 german, 2 french and one russian squad each with a maximum of 3 players on one side and mostly locked to prevent players who don't speak the language to join. They were simply taking away squads and most of them ran about quite ineffective as you might imagine and when I asked them to merge the squads I got no reply or (due to my name which includes a GER) german answers telling me to shut up.

In my opinion squads shouldn't be created to speak only the native language of the players. It should be created to fullfill a special role and if it turns out everyone speaks for example german or whatever, the spoken language can be said language.

Reminds me of the first time I started playing PR. First server I joined had mostly German squads. Still had some decent teamwork being as the SL knew a little english. What I seem to notice the most is the lack of American servers, so my ping is always above about 150ms.

Also, am I the only one felling "uncomfortable" speaking my native language in PR? :p
When I got into PR there was few Norwegian speakers, so I spoke English, and I've stuck with that, no speaking Norwegian is weird for me, especially seeing as my dialect can be hard to understand for some Norwegians xD
Soooo true it feels weird and tbh I am not comfortable speaking Norwegian in any game at all, english is the main language for me in games usually.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

The weirdest thing happend to me yesterday. I was a SL in a German server, and there was one German player asking me if I spoke German, as I said no, he asked what do I do in a German server.

When I join a squad which doesn't speak English I feel really awakared lol. Like you just farted really loudly in a quiet classroom and everyone is staring at you.

I think everyone should play PR, and on a server they like, no matter what language they speak. It only takes about 20 words of english to be effective communicating with other english speakers. As long as you know assets (tank, truck, infantry), the directions, and numbers 0-9, you can communicate 95% of what needs to be said. Plus, playing with people who speak a different language, maybe you'll actually learn something.

On the other hand, anyone making half-full locked squads on a full server is hurting the team, whether its a language thing, a clan, or whatever, the exception being specific asset teams.
