One Shortcut 2 programs
Is there a way to tinker with a shortcut link in windows XP so that it opens up 2 programs? Say you want mumble to start up as well when you click on the PR Shortcut is that doable?

You could use a .bat file, but there are probably more elegant ways of doing it.
for example lets say you want to start mumble and pr.exe and they are both installed in your programs folder on your C: drive; you'd create a .txt file on your desktop, open it and type:
@echo off
start C:\Programs\Mumble\PRmumble(0.5beta).exe
start C:\Programs\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe
Then save and close the .txt file and rename it to something appropriate like "PR and Mumble.bat" remember to name it .bat instead of .txt otherwise it wont work, press OK when prompted with a warning message.
I don't know if you can change the icon for a .bat file but you could create a shortcut to the .bat file and then edit the icon of the shortcut. if you'd rather have the PR dogtags on the shortcut instead of the default .bat icon that is.
You can move the .bat file off the desktop if you, like me, prefer to have as few icons on the desktop as possible.

It does not seem to handle spaces. Guess I need to find out the MSDOS name or something.

Wops, Knew I forgot something
Edit: wait a second. shouldn't it be:
@echo off
start C:\Programs\Mumble\PRmumble(0.5beta).exe
start C:\Programs\"EA GAMES"\"Battlefield 2"\mods\pr\pr.exe
Or am I missing something?

Re: One Shortcut 2 programs
Can not get it to work.
Saved as .bat file but it only opens three command windows with the same names as in the script.
In the commandwindows it says:
C:\users\me\desktop>
If i open the file as admin it says:
C:\Windows\system32>
Does this only work on XP?
Im on Vista.
Code: Select all
@echo off
start "C:\Program Files (x86)\fraps.exe"
start "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mumble(PR Edition)\PRmumble(0.5beta).exe"
start "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"
In the commandwindows it says:

Are you running the .bat directly, or are you running a shortcut of it?Mj Pain wrote:Can not get it to work.

Don't know if it will help, but I've read that the shortcut's target (under the properties of the shortcut) should be "cmd /c [path to .bat, should be there already]"

Re: One Shortcut 2 programs
Its quotes just around the bit with spaces like the other guy said, at least for XP.[R-DEV]AncientMan wrote:@echo off
start "C:\Programs\Mumble\PRmumble(0.5beta).exe"
start "C:\Programs\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"
quotes![]()
start C:\Programme"Mumble(PR Edition)"\PRmumble(0.5beta).exe
start F:"Battlefield 2"\mods\pr\pr.exe
He has been closest without going over. Everybody else thanks for playing
Also is there a way to get mumble PR to autoconnect on startup?
