Voip

Post by bigbear948 »

When I run bf2 voip setup.exe it does not detect my voice at all, ( my mic works fine). And when I click save settings I get an error message saying "Bf2 Voip setup.exe has stopped working". So I tried mumble, I configured the mic ok, but once I connect to the Project reality official mumble server, it seems impossible to find the right channel to connect to, there are so many, and it looks really complicated. Also does mumble actually give you any ingame indications that you or someonelse else is speaking like in BF2 Voip ?

I wish I could get Bf2 VOIP working it would be so much easier.

I think I haven't gotten bf2 voip installer to run successfully as well but my ingame voip works. So I suggest you simply try ingame if it really does not work.

Regarding mumble:
You chose the Channel depending on the BF2 server you have joined. The channel names correspond to the server names (and locations). Some Channels are subdivided into Team1 and Team2, you will have to compare the ingame player list of your team to figure out which Team channel to join.

Mumble has multiple ways to indicate active mics. With in the normal user interface a speaker icon will show either red (Squad Leader radio [broadcast]) or green (local [positional audio]). Those icons will also only appear if you are not deafened and in the same channel.
Mumble also facilitates an "Overlay" to show you who is talking/in your channel when you are ingame. You can activate it in "Configuration" -> "Settings" -> "Overlay" -> "Enable Overlay" (I recommend chosing "Show only talking" from the drop-down menu)
