Joystick not working in multiplayer

I've spent a few hours learning to fly the choppers and planes in PR with a joystick on COOP and local deployment, as well as using to drive so I'm not going full pelt all the time.

Trouble is, when I went into Online Deployment the joystick's commands weren't listened to anymore. I couldn't' drive a wmik with it and also couldn't fly the blackhawk when I was assigned to return it to base. This wasn't a huge problem at the time since I still have mouse controls working but it's an annoyance that it doesn't work online.
I'm using a saitek cyborg evo joystick (not force)

PC specs

AMD Phenom dual core 3.4GHz
ATI 5750 1GB graphics card
4GB RAM

10Mb internet (tested to actually be 4mb)

Also note this was on servers with and without the 0957b server patch

This sounds totally strange. Have you after that tried if the joystick still works in coop?

Try swapping the joystick binds in control options between "Primary" and "Secondary" assignement keys.

Check if you have some kind of profiler (sometimes comes with joystick driver) that maybe resets keys or what not when it detects online gameplay.

I had to setup my stick in vBF2 with my PR profile once it was set I could then use it in PR. Before that PR wouldnt accept any inputs when trying to bind them.

I've got the joystick as secondary, should probably put it on primary. I made a Heli Trans squad on kashan this afternoon and had to rebind the controls, then it worked. I'm gonna put the joystick on primary in the future, it's just an annoyance
