Re: *NwA* "For Queen And Country"- Friday 29th October
beginning was good. but between the round 1 and 2 just childish behaviour. noone could keep his mouth shut until the timer was about 10secs, impossible to communicate with other sqls to prepare the deployment.
and then, someone of the admins i think (not sure) "tartantyco" called some of my mates "fuckin dumbasses" cause they took a landrover to drop ammo next to it for fielddressings. such behaviour isn't that needed.
teamwork between squads was not as good as prta does, but still a bit over public average...
PS: i took out 2 caches by my own. thanks to those nice cache defenders at juliet11
i just sneaked around u and put c4 on it.

Sorry about that but thats wasnt one of our admins. Basra just ended apart from the hole of the ins team doing a mass CTD it was a awsome game. Thanks all. So far so good.K4on wrote:beginning was good. but between the round 1 and 2 just childish behaviour. noone could keep his mouth shut until the timer was about 10secs, impossible to communicate with other sqls to prepare the deployment.

I am not an admin on NwA and I didn't say 'fucking dumbass', just 'dumbass' because leaving parked vehicles alone is basic kindergarten stuff and you should know better than to take them. We were delayed several minutes because you had the bright idea of just taking the closest vehicle without thinking to ask if anyone's using it. You should never, ever do that again. Ever.K4on wrote:and then, someone of the admins i think (not sure) "tartantyco" called some of my mates "fuckin dumbasses" cause they took a landrover to drop ammo next to it for fielddressings. such behaviour isn't that needed.
As for mumble, I agree fully. This is what happens with the 1 channel system, constant spam and immaturity, and I hope NwA will be reasonable and institute a 2 channel system so that mumble actually becomes useful.

The system isnt a issue but the users, when playing we find 1 channel more fun realistic. Server died on Burning Sands I guess its not a liked map. Its a pitty cos we find it a very good map just need teamwork and was hoping to get that with a mumble event.
Thanks all who turned out Basra was a close game. Server is back to noraml rotation.

:/ got unlinked in burning sands, and couldnt relink.... then got shot down with a tow in the havoc ....
wasnt very fun, but i still think its unrealistic that you can shoot a helicopter which is 200m high with a hat or tow launcher...

Well, you would be wrong on both counts. Allowing players on opposing teams to talk to each other only ends with people actually doing that, which leads to spam and immature behavior. As the teams can hear each other mumble simply isn't used near enemies, which leads to mumble not being used at all. 1 channel isn't realistic in the least(Hear people through mountains, hear people whispering at 50m, etc.), it only limits the use of mumble as an actual communication tool, making it useful only for the spamming that occurred on the server today.*NwA*Orford wrote:The system isnt a issue but the users, when playing we find 1 channel more fun realistic.
People won't bother getting mumble is they can't actually use it, all your server is doing is dissuading people from using it.

Then I am correct on the first count its due to the users as you also stated. On the second count if friendlys can hear through building and through mountains and whisper 50 mtrs away the should`nt the enemy be able to hear also thus more realistic. As a comunication tool VOIP and commander coms is the chain of command for coms. Battle field chit chat should be hear by all within talking range just like the real world. Its not a comunication tool (unlike my spellings) it is a addition to the realism how its ment to be used. Its the maturatly of the users and VOIP/mumble disaplin in game and out of game that needs to be addressed.Tartantyco wrote:Well, you would be wrong on both counts. Also I am not wrong I mearly have a diffrent opinion than you. I respect your opinion please respect mine.

Re: *NwA* "For Queen And Country"- Friday 29th October
You seem to have completely missed the point of mumble, no wonder you think the 1 channel system is functional.
Mumble should be your primary communication tool. It allows a squad to split up into smaller groups that can act and communicate independently of each other(Something in-game VOIP doesn't allow), it allows squads to cooperate on a local level directly, it allows vehicle operators to coordinate with players on the ground, it improves teamwork dramatically as people are suddenly put in the position of being able to be questioned about and answer for their actions. With a 1 channel system you will never experience any of this because people simply won't use mumble as it is made into a 'push to reveal position' button.
As for the maturity of the players, this is what you fail to understand; if you give them a system(1 channel) that allows for nothing else than spamming and immature behavior then that is obviously the only thing they will ever use it for. Nobody's going to start talking on mumble deep inside enemy territory with the 1 channel system as it will give their position away, they won't do it when engaging the enemy at close range for the same reasons, and they sure as hell won't coordinate with any blue guys next to them which would only give away their intentions, hence it is only used off the front where little in the way of teamwork actually happens or when the user is dead, for spam.
If you want SLs to communicate together then any VOIP software will do, mumble is what we use precisely because of the multitude of teamwork options it gives players. Players aren't immature with a 1 channel system because they're immature players, they're immature because that's the only use the 1 channel system has.
Mumble does not simulate sound, hence it is a pointless exercise to attempt to implement it in this way. In reality different countries usually have vastly different languages, in reality ambient sound is much more disruptive than it is in game, in reality people have access to a wide array of communication tools such as hand signals, different radio systems, and volume of their voice actually has an impact on other people's ability to hear what they're saying. In terms of this the 2 channel system checks far more boxes in the 'realism' bracket than the 1 channel system does, but the simple fact is that neither system is realistic, one is useful and the other is completely retarded. As such this is not a matter of opinions, it's a matter of you being wrong and me being right. Your server simply serves to impede the adoption of mumble by players as you present them this non-functional version that in no way informs potential users of its practical application and the huge impact it makes on the quality of gameplay on servers.

you are always talkin about "you". i did nothing,it was not my squad, not my squadmembers. i just noticed that u were global insulting my clanmates. they can't hear global things cause they were in another channel.Tartantyco wrote: We were delayed several minutes because you had the bright idea of just taking the closest vehicle without thinking to ask if anyone's using it. next time be patient and calm down. talk to the responsible squadleaders and don't bring those provoking words to game. further more someone in the sql channel explained to u, WHY his squad has done that, but in ur rage u haven't listened to him i guess...

I had a good laugh despite our "lousy one channel mumble system" . Hope to have more fun like that soon.

i was in the same channel 500 meters away, i think that must be global (otherwise we wouldn't complain about u).Tartantyco wrote:I was talking to the squad leader, I was not talking on global
may u missed the buttons. fact is that u have insult my mates, before they even could explain why they did this action. however, this is leading to nowhere....

You can't 'miss' buttons. I was in the SL channel, talking to SLs. If you heard me then you had stumbled into the SL channel also...K4on wrote:i was in the same channel 500 meters away, i think that must be global (otherwise we wouldn't complain about u).

Your mates were being dumbasses. Don't take other people's vehicles, whatever words are used to inform you of this are wholly irrelevant.
