Back from the grave (pc not me)
well as i'm sure none of you know, my computer's hard drive died on reboot last monday. So i went and bought another computer (because I need it for school and gaming) and here I am again with better (obviously) system specs with win7, quadcore i5 running at 2.8 ghz, 6gb of ram, and a better video card i had before with 1gb of memory on that instead of 215? mb of memory. Time to tear up the battlefield with sexier graphics and a smoother running.

Well the cost for the computer was 720 and the tax pushed it to 780. my graphics card is the ATI Radeon HD 5450 which is better than the 8500 gt i had, and the memory on the card is 1 gbJohncro wrote:Pretty Good, I got almost the same system(dunno about video card)

hi,
if you buy such a system in between 700-800 dollars, be aware that there might be something wrong.
- the graphic card is not as good as you suspect - 1024mb of memory doesnt necessarily make it a good graphic card, there are 1gb graphic card in between 100-600 dollars for a reason. (thats most likely)
- the motherboard/power supply are chap and either die after like a year or will make upgrading impossible, because theyre exactly limited to what the computer needs. (happened to me before i started building computers on my own)
- the ram is cheap, therefore it heartbeat stops (hope someone gets that joke) and it will take you quite some time to find that out, cause even the best memory test program (sorry no ads here) has failed more than once.
i dont wanna scare you, it might be just as good as you need.
as i completly make my argumentation dependent on the price of the system i have to say im from europe, so 550-600 euros might be not so much the same as 700-800 dollars in america.
regards,
skull

Skull, while your concern is well placed, in the states computer parts are that cheap now, and perversely, a 700 euro computer is worth 700$ American in many cases, a total rip off for you guys

Re: Back from the grave (pc not me)
plus i'm running pr nicely with everything set to high (except textures, will test that at high) instead of the medium settings I was running at with my 8500. oh and thanks for your concern skull, but the prices for real decent products has gone down, and the products are way nicer than the ones I had before. You also have to remember this- to get what I got on another website, you'd go into the 900/1000 range because of some of the deals i got from the hp website. and plus, i know my computers thanks to my older brother who actually builds computers (he built his own before).
Oh and chiznizzle, i was never a whiner on the forums about graphics, i was happy my older system could run pr at ALL.

I'm upgrading my card next year to a 5770 or a 460.....one or the other.....Not doing much looking as I have no money.
But other then that, your system looks really good.
