Aiming Adjustments
I really dont know where this would be posted but its not a suggestion, bug, or anything of those so I guess here is the place.
I have always assumed its just the battlefield engine but I never been sure but when sighted in say there is a target directly next to my cross hair to the right but hes at a distance, I cant simply move to the right, the aiming seems to have a 5 pixel distance it has to move to make the adjustment.
So instead of moving the cross hair onto my target instead of the cross hair being on the left side its now on the right side of the target and there is no way to get it ON the target unless i physically move myself to the right or left.
Any insight on this? Is it the engine or just me?

Re: Aiming Adjustments
Isnt ther a fix for the mouse movement per pixel "mouse acceleration" as moving your mouse very slowly only gives 5 pixels on screen rather than pixel x pixel movement.

Re: Aiming Adjustments
If you have an adjustable DPI mouse, with different setup controls, as I do with my Saitek Cyborg, I set one setting to a lower DPI, meaning I can get a more precise movement, it means I can be pinpoint accurate, but it means I cant move quickly(it will take probably 5m to turn 360 degrees, as a guess). Other than that as Orford says, there is a setting in options too that reduces sensitivity, however this will reduce it all round.

Re: Aiming Adjustments
A higher sensitivity mouse should fix it
Edit: what resolution do you play on?

Re: Aiming Adjustments
i think this is a mouse or pc settings problem, i'm atleast able to if i'm really really steady to adjust aim pixel by pixel
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

Re: Aiming Adjustments
I believe this is a bf2 engine issue, I remember always having problems in vbf2 with "hitting" someone but not hitting them until I adjust my body to the left or right the smallest bit. I think this has been a part of pr for a while as I find myself in the same habit. I remember there was a bf2 sniper video on youtube specifically outlining this as an issue, if you dig a bit I'm sure you will find it.

Re: Aiming Adjustments
If you want to fix the X-Pixel jump on small movements, go to your game options and turn your in-game sensitivity way down, then get a mouse with a high DPI (1200+) and set your DPI to one of the higher settings (I play on 1600DPI with 0.4 in-game sensitivity, although my mouse can do 5700dpi so I could drop it to 0.1 I guess). This will allow you to then use the LOW dpi settings (on your DPI adjustable mouse) to move pixel by pixel
Got this from a BF2 forum and used it since about 0.85

Set your bf2 mouse sensitivity way down (I suggest doing this for vehicles too) and your operating system's mouse sensitivity up. experiment with it a little and you should get the right settings you prefer. also having a mouse with a high DPI and adjustable sensitivity doesn't hurt

You should not turn the windows sensitivity up. It will get the same effect as having the high setting in the game. It will start "jumping" pixels!
The only thing what those "faster" mouse settings do is taking your input (lets say "1 pixel movement on your mouse) and make that faster (he will move 2 or more pixels on your screen) so you will never be able to get pixel-accurate movement.
If you want 1:1 input, set the windows mousespeed to the 6th step (start counting with 1) and if you have a mouse with adjustable DPI change your "mouse speed" with the DPI settings (As suggested by Psyrus)

Re: Aiming Adjustments
You know, I have the same issues as you, but I don't see the problem of moving a little bit to the left or right to adjust the aim. Since (.85?) you must only hold for deviation to settle as much as you moved, instead of the whole thing resetting.

Re: Aiming Adjustments
Thanks for all the feedback and the problem is indeed really to do with the sensitivity setting.
Makes sense that (values not correct) 1.0 mouse sensitivity would equal 1 pixel as 5 would equal 5 pixel movements.
I was playing on 4.0 sensitivity so i played around and found that 2.0 works perfectly for me, I do not turn around to fast or to slow and adjustments are a lot easier now I still notice a chunk of space the cross hair does not touch but its very small and not big enough to ruin my aim.

I just experimented with it a bit and turning up windows sensitivity did not make my mouse jump over pixels on desktop nor in-gameAppLeNaToR wrote:You should not turn the windows sensitivity up. It will get the same effect as having the high setting in the game. It will start "jumping" pixels!)

over the last year i played with Windows sense 7/11 and my mouse always jumped, i tried nearly verything, 500Hz mousefix, acceleration fix etc.splatters wrote:I just experimented with it a bit and turning up windows sensitivity did not make my mouse jump over pixels on desktop nor in-game![]()
after reading this, i just turned the sense down to the standard 6/11 in windows an .... surprise! it doesnt jump anymore!

You can find a pretty nice Guide about Mouse sensitivity here: CS:S Mouse Optimization Guide - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net
its alot of text but its pretty usefull!
