5000 or 6000 series?

I was looking at the 5750, but since the new 6000 series came out I have been thinking maybe I should go with a 6850. Idk. I am currently rocking a 4670, so an upgrade is defiantly needed.

All depends on your budget, a lot of serious power-pc gamers will be waiting for the 69-series cards. Right now the 6870s are very good value, and some nice power/heat characteristics. Read the reviews here.

Considering the 6850 trumps the GTX460 in some cases, roughly equaling it most others... and the GTX460 is better than a 5770, it's a fair margin of performance boost. Not double or anything, that's for sure!

Depends on what you like.
The new 6000 series is actually built with 3D technology.
The 68xx cards are less powerful than the 58xx cards probably due to the addition of the 3D tech.
I'm not sure how the 69xx cards will compare though.

The reviews I'm reading are comparing the 5000 and 6000 series all mention that the freaking model numbering system can not be easily translated.

5770 is replaced by 6770
BUT, the 5870 is still better than the 6770.


Very frustrating, I'm waiting on a website like Tomshardware to do a GPU update to get this sorted. ON top of that I need a new PSU if I go above a 5770. So I'm waiting, and waiting and waiting.

I'm using a 5770 right now and sitting here asking the same question you are, but I'm left with a small bump to the 6770 or a big hit on the wallet to the 6870.

Hey LIT, the 5770 isn't a bad card, and it's not very expensive either, you could just get a second and run crossfire, you'd get great performance.
