[0957] Crewmen shot out of AAV-7
Server: NwA Reality server
Map: Jabal
I was gunning APC when BTR came up. It started shooting us and after quick battle I killed it. Then I noticed that BTR have killed my driver.
BTR knew where to hit as it killed my driver instantly.

Re: Driver of AAV killed
I've seen this happen with the gunner as well, which leads me to think that it was intentional for the crew to be shot out which is pretty unbalanced.
You literally see the crew die inside the vehicle when in a passenger position.

Yeah I have seen the driver die quite a lot of LAT's and Gl splash where it just makes him bleed out.

Re: Driver of AAV killed
I've been hit in the front with an RPG on Fallujah several times and been killed as the driver/gunner while the passengers survive. I thought it was intentional

Yeah, I really dislike crewing the AAV now because it just seems like a diceroll as too whether or not you will die due to some freak occurance.
I've personally seen:
Driver die, gunner be bleeding
Gunner die, driver be bleeding
Both crew be bleeding after a hit
ALL passengers die, crew bleeding
I think it has something to do with the 30mm MTLB on Muttrah as that's the map ive had most (if not all, not sure) of the problems. Although the instance where all the passengers died in the AAV and the crew survived there was no MTLB around (That I was aware of), infact I think I had driven into a wall accidentally.
Edit For Bloodbane:
Server: BigD 1 and 2 0.957
Reproduction: Crew AAV with passengers
Map: Muttrah City 2 64layer

I like it lol. I would say that a LAT shot to the front has a chance of killing the driver, its very possible.

Pretty sure in the picture above the driver broke a few toes. Not died.

In the Condor someone died died, the second one he lost a foot. loosing a foot would ....mess you up. http://world.guns.ru/grenade/gl40-e.htm says it can go through about 440mm of armor but I dont know how much an AAV7 has.Tim270 wrote:Pretty sure in the picture above the driver broke a few toes. happened to me too. TPG Muttrah vs the new APC with the BTR-type gun. driver, gunner, and passenger were all wounded before the vehicle exploded.

This happened to me too, lost my driver twice, once to a 30mm MEC cannon on Muttrah and once to a Gary on Faludja, always from the front.
But I thought that the AAV is just so lightly armored that it's a feature, not a bug.

The AAV's ability to have the crew die or be injured through penetrating shots should be either modeled for all vehicles, or fixed for the AAV7.

Has happened to me too, Following along the lines of JakCurse.
Just doesn't happen to me as much, but there will be a lucky guy, who gets a lucky shot, which kills me.

Re: [0957] Crewmen shot out of AAV-7
The other day I was rolling around Muttrah in a BTR and I guess I had shot the driver out 2 times in a row giving chase. My driver tried to get us as close as we can to hinder the MK19 trajectory and when I started unloading on the front armor the AAV7 went engines off. At the time it made no sense as we could clearly see the crew had not bailed, but now I understand what happened.
It's not very tough to reproduce, I did it unintentionally and short of reading this thread chances are I would not have known what had happened. It is kind of cool to have the ability to stop an IFV by shooting out the driver but it kind of defeats the purpose of being "armored".

How many LAT hits AAV can handle? Because i destroyed it with one lat rocket [rpg26] to the front. Is it intentional?

Re: [0957] Crewmen shot out of AAV-7
From what Ive experienced its always the player in the second seat that gets hurt. Every time i get in Kiowa or attack Huey and it gets fired upon i get hurt but not the pilot. This has happed to me couple of times.

Re: [0957] Crewmen shot out of AAV-7
Might be intentional because AAV's are becoming very outdated and are being replaced by EFV's eventually. They are known for being poorly armored.

Re: [0957] Crewmen shot out of AAV-7
Its most definitely intentional and realistic, but for gameplay, its one of the most retarded changes I've ever seen. If no other vehicles crew/passengers can be killed, the AAV's shouldn't either.Grizzly wrote:Might be intentional because AAV's are becoming very outdated and are being replaced by EFV's eventually. Re: [0957] Crewmen shot out of AAV-7
My guess is that this is probably the result of the fact that the "armor" in PR simply reduces the damage by a certain multiplier, instead of having an all or nothing penetration system with the heavier weapons.
