[?] Disabling Suppresive Fire Effect?
First off Appologies if this is posted in the wrong section. I am new.
Anyways as the title says I'm looking for a way to disable the Suppresive Fire effect. I simply do not at all find it realistic. Maybe it works better in Online play but for Singleplayer I find it horrible. Either my screen goes dark every 2 seconds (even when I'm clearly a distance away from enemies) or I can't see the enemy 3 feet in front of me because I am being 'suppresed' and can only wait until I am stabbed and forced to respawn. As stated before I only play singleplayer so I don't plan on using this for as an advantage or cheat.
I have already searched different using different forms of "disabling suppresive fire" "Suppresion effect" etc, etc... and I only found one Thread but it was for a older build of PR. So if there is a way to remove it all together or even lower the amount of time you are being suppressed I would appreciate it. While I like the blood effects I am also looking for remove those as well because what may work in Online play is completely different on Singleplayer.
Thanks!

No, you must use the pr.exe.Zoddom wrote:dont start it with pr.exe, start vanilla then go to mods ->pr -> activate.

The question is, can he delete/rename the "suppression" effect file?
BTW, Zoddom, you get that black screen every 2 seconds because bullets are hitting near you, a valid tactic, specially if you call in mortars on top of the suppressed enemy
Welcome to the forums, sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

well, you must use the pr.exe to use the new custom shaders, which are (if im right) including the suppresion effects. so, i dont know if you are able to start it taht way i described, but if it works, you should have normal bf2 shadersgoguapsy wrote:No, you must use the pr.exe.

That's correct. But if you don't use pr.exe, odds are you'll not be able to start the game at all.Zoddom wrote:well, you must use the pr.exe to use the new custom shaders, which are (if im right) including the suppresion effects. so, i dont know if you are able to start it taht way i described, but if it works, you should have normal bf2 shaders

Very constructive, Sharps.
He is of course allowed to play PR even if he wants to modify it, as long as he does not use these modifications in online play...

For future reference this should be in the community modding section.
I doubt it's possible since it adds so much to the gameplay, they must have buried it so that people can't remove it

Re: Disabling Suppresive Fire Effect
There isn't anything you can really do to get rid of it, without being banned for a hack or punk buster getting you.
Easiest thing to do is fall back, find the shooter, and either avoid them, or after finding them shoot back. It's part of the game and becomes a very effective tactic. Give it a shot for yourself, and watch as you're on the firing end of the fire.

I love it when some well deserved infraction hits.T.A.Sharps wrote:Its really easy to fix. Uninstall PR. Go play xbox.
Infraction given for unhelpful post - Jigsaw
Anyway thats the second time this week someone has asked how to alter PR.
heres what I would do:
1. Create a PR mod clone (like for editing vehicles)
2. THEN disable the suppression effect.

I am a bit derp when it comes to these things. Is there a guide to describe what you are suggesting? But um...erm...think you got banned :/ExplodyBitz wrote:I love it when some well deserved infraction hits.

Re: Disabling Suppresive Fire Effect
copy your pr folder and name the copy pr_edit for example. Then you can mod it all you want, as long as you do not play online.

Re: Disabling Suppresive Fire Effect
Ah that part I have down already. My main question is where I would begin modding? Just trying to zero in on what specific files I would edit to disable the effects or even a ballpark estimate.
EDIT: After tinkering I finally found a fix that works. Only Con seems to be that maps take a little longer to load but that is about it. Of course if anyone else has any suggestions or fixes I'd be happy to hear them. Thx for the help.

Re: Disabling Suppresive Fire Effect
Dont know if you have found a way to, but if not... I've tested an old trick for Battlefield 2 and it worked
All you have to do is to mod the sound.con in ".../Battlefield 2/Mod/PR/settings/", find the line "vars.set sound-tinnitus-range" and set the number to 0.
But I warn you, if you use this online, you may eventually get kicked or even worse, banned...
Enjoy
