Crossfire Two 5850's

Post by whatshisname55 »

I have a Radeon HD 5850 right now and I was planning to put in another one and run Crossfire.
I just wanted to know if there would be any problems putting these two cards together:
Current card: XFX Radeon HD 5850 ZNFC
What I want to buy: MSI Radeon HD 5850 Twin Frozr II

I checked and they both have 1 GB GDDR5, 725MHz GPU clock, and 1000MHz memory clock, I just wanted to make sure there's nothing else I'm missing.

System specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel i7 930 @ 2.80GHz
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
XFX Radeon HD 5850 ZNFC
G-Skill Ripjaws 3x2GB 1600 DDR3

As long as they're the same type of card (in your case 2x 5850's) you can run them in x-fire regardless of brand.

Alright, that's pretty much what I got from other research, I just wanted to know if anyone knew of any specific problems with these two cards. I'll probably end up getting something else anyway since I'm not doing this any time soon. :)
Thanks Fuzzy.
