Auto-teamswitch ghosting

Post by NyteMyre »

So, i was just playing a round on Operation Archer as insurgent. It was a pretty long boring round with not much going on. Suddenly i get teamswitched to the canadians.

Then i got this following dillema:
Do I tell the team the location of unknown caches or should i just play ignorant.

Someone that teamswitches from insurgents to blufor (willingly or not) has some vital intel for the entire team, but should it be allowed to tell that team?

Poll maybe?
- Yes, share the info with the team! That's called teamwork!
- No, you should act if you don't know the locations! That's called playing fair!
- Just make your own squad and solo it! That's called 1337!

-edit-
Could also apply for FOB locations in AAS/CnC

Easy, don't tell anyone anything, and don't squadlead.

Just join a random squad, and go where the squad leader tells you to. Play completely ignorant, and let the squad finds its way to the cache.

If I get teamswitched, I wheter join a squad or make my own and go to some place I would go anyway, even if I know nobody is there. I simply pretend I don't know where the cache is :) So for me is...

Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

That would be called 1337, but i'm going to go with he ignorance. This has also happened to me in a few games.

I agree with Foxxy. If you're teamswitched and you give away cache locations, you've destroyed the point of the game mode. Half the fun is figuring out where the caches are

"umm yes, i am informant. i here to help you invading bastar-i mean friends..."

Is what i do when i'm bored out of my mind (several minutes later said squad gets steamrolled by techies waiting in ambush)

but most of the time i just keep my mouth shut and join another squad, if i have to create a squad, i just go attack the other cache for a while, then i might go for the other cache once there are some more insurgents there to defend it.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

It's an unwritten (sometimes written too) rule that you DO NOT reveal the cache locations or use the intel to your advantage if you have switched teams. Enforcing that rule is a bit tricky but it'll probably lead to a kick or ban on many servers if you get caught.

Also, it's just ruining the game for everyone.

Don't tell anyone, and don't go there unless the squad you joined goes there on it's own.

But this is one of those things that's pretty much impossible to admin I'm afraid.

Personally, i keep quiet.

Although, it happened the other day to me on Kokan. I joined the Kiowa squad as the thermal guy, and started dropping hints like mad. Reason being right before i got team swapped i noticed like half the taliban team spawning on the new unknown, which was right beside the ISAF main.

They never actually realised. They just thought i was being a good SM and spotting all those thermal hits in the compound (which i was)

If I get teamswitched from Insurgents to BLUFOR I'll play like I never were on their side. Simple.

If I get teamswitched I don't tell anyone where the cache is, and if I join the insurgent side only to teamswitch immedieatly I don't take note of where they are. Hell, my memory is so weird that even if I've spawned at one 10 times, I won't remember where it is if I get teamswitched, but I can draw a quit excact "blueprint" of the house I lived in till I was 6 years old :p

I think most people play it fair. After all, the fun is in the teamplay, not personal satisfaction. Anyone who plays differently is just, well, sad.

Even for those that ghost intentionally, 0.95 makes it a lot less effective than it used to be on insurgency. Known cache markers are a lot more accurate now anyway and 1 manning a cache is extremely difficult, impossible in many cases where it's defended.

i dont tell anyone, but drop a few hints, and then when the sl finally says to search that compound, i become 1337 destroying everything that my eyes meet, until i make my way to the cache

Of course I'm not going to tell anyone anything, that's just good sportsmanship imo.

(Though, often I just leave the server in those cases. I hate being teamswitched and having to fight against those I just fought with)

nothing pisses me off more when blufor magically finds a cache and destroys it without any ins being even remotely near it. It tends to happen a lot when i play insurgency i feel like and it really makes the game even shittier for the insurgents.
