Yay, a highlight :)

Nice to see a more detailed bunker static, should be of good use in and outside of dutch forces maps.

The area where these bunkers will be placed is nowhere near a coastline. There's a river though ;) .

What was the purpose of these particular bunkers back in WWII? Because we in Czech Republic do have similar, And bunkers of this size were used generylly as a HMG empacement, hence they had windows.
So, what was the role of these two bunkers in WWII?

They served as pilboxes for HMG and fixed field guns.
also shelter from arty fire and storage of ammo.

then there should be gunports for there guns, yes? (for HMGs).
So we should be able to fire out from them with rifles, right?

The taller bunker has a gunport covering the entrance, but it's meant for defensive fire - it has a very poor field of view.

The other has a great field of view, but the bunkers it's modeled after were partially demolished by the germans in WW II, destroying the protective steel part of the casement. They are still good firing positions, just a bit exposed.

As far as destructible goes, short of a JDAM there aren't really any weapons in PR that would bother these bunkers. Their concrete is 1-2 meters thick in most places, even 120mm tank rounds would take a fair amount of time to do anything noticeable. So given that, it's not really sensible to waste a networkable object slot on them.

I'm glad to see all the positive responses, hopefully I'll have some more statics to show off in the future :D

Thanks, Bloodbane, now I get the big picture:
The lower bunker is some sort of artilery firing position, but with its steel parts removed by germans, and the bigger bunker was used as barracs and for ammo storage, with its back door covered by a gunport, just for the last stand.
So these bunkers were not the frontline bunkers, hence they dont have gunports for HMGs and stuff. They were probably placed with the door facing away from the borders with Germany, do give the crew posibility to exit the bunker while in cover.

cheers,

Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

lol that is awesome! almost all old nieuwe waterlinie(new waterline)bunkers are overgrown and sprayed with graffiti nowadays though.

apart from that hardly constructive remark I'm only positive about the implemention of some typical dutch statics ;)

Near a river... Mmmmh where could this be :P

Iv always wanted to make some sort of a Zwolle map, with the Ijsel and all that and the ww2 bunkers on the Hattem side.

Anyway this is some good stuff remember seeing these near utrecht and also some in Zeeland. Pretty nice :D

I think "windows" is a misnomer in this case. It's not a structure shaped like a house or an MG bunker. Those are large enough to, as someone said above, put an artillery piece in. Certainly taking cover in these things is possible, but they're not particularly meant as infantry-filled emplacements.

As addressed above, not destructible.
