Re: Will my laptop run Project Reality 0.9
What specs?
EDIT: Ok there they are
Defiantly more ram will help, but with vista using 512mb of ram you are still limited in that department.
I wouldn't suggest putting more RAM in just to play PR though.
IF you can play, it will probably be on all low

It would be very iffy, but luckily PR is free so you have nothing to lose besides a few hours downloading.
You will be missing out on a lot of things with low graphics though, but if that doesn't matter to you and you can play then its all the better.

More detailed specs? Also, I highly, highly doubt you have a 9800 GTX in a laptop - more likely it's the mobile version, the 9800M GTDazeMaker83 wrote:wait what if i had a gateway laptop with a Nvidia 9800 GTX graphics card would that help?

Re: Will my laptop run Project Reality 0.9
With your current specs on your laptop you may be able to run pr, but you wont have any smooth gameplay even on low settings. Because your graphics card is a build in one so it will borrow your memory and cpu power. So you will have less resources left. On top of that your cpu is not very powerful either.
So even with a upgrade of another 1024MB ram wont make a difference when it comes to playing PR.

Sorry for not being more detailed ur right I don't have a 9800 GTX I don't know that much about computers, Would I still be able to play with this mobile 9800?[R-MOD]BloodBane611 wrote:More detailed specs? Yes, depending on your other specs. If you provide them we are more than willing to tell you. Even just giving us the model would be enough.DazeMaker83 wrote:Sorry for not being more detailed ur right I don't have a 9800 GTX I don't know that much about computers, Would I still be able to play with this mobile 9800?

alright here are my specs: GateWay M series/7315u, 54 bit operating system, 4 GBs of memory, CPU-T3200 at 2.00 GHZ, intel pentian (I may have spelt that wrong) chip. btw thank you very much for helping me with this[R-MOD]BloodBane611 wrote:Yes, depending on your other specs. You will be able to run it with pretty decent settings, but probably not on all high. The BF2 engine is fairly CPU intensive, without a 2.5+ ghz processor I don't think you'll be able to max it out. It should still look quite pretty though

A Pentium at 2.00? eerr my old desktop was a P4 at 2.00 and I could only play on the lowest of the low settings (fps was low even then) but I had a very old gfx card soooo it can go either way really.

So I don?t think he will be running even standard BF2 very smooth at low.
A Pentium doesn?t mean that it has to be a P4. For example a Pentium Core 2 Duo at 2.0 Ghz is WAY faster than a P4 at 4.0 Ghz.A Pentium at 2.00? eerr my old desktop was a P4 at 2.00 and I could only play on the lowest of the low settings (fps was low even then) but I had a very old gfx card soooo it can go either way really.

From the first post it says he has a intel celeron(T3200 is a celeron model) which is a somewhat weak cpu even at 2.0 GHz. And his GPU is integrated which means it uses cpu power and uses the RAM instead of having its own memory. You will be able to run it with pretty decent settings, but probably not on all high. Laptop GPUs are integrated into their mobos, doesn't automatically make it integrated graphics. They are real GPUs, just cut down in order to fit into a laptop form factor - and the Nvidia M cards are physically separate from the CPU. I ran PR on an 8600M GT for 2 full years - a significantly worse card, and I was running PR on all high except AA. I had a more powerful CPU, but that was the only real difference between his build and mine.Baafen wrote:BloodBane611:

Anyhow, the proof is in the pudding. Give it a go DazeMaker, let us know

Don't waste your money on an alienware, you're paying over the odds for the name. Just get a well specified Dell. Something like this will run PR reasonably well. Go to customise and just make sure you have 4gb of ram selected.

If you're looking for a gaming computer, unless you really, really need a laptop, I would highly recommend assembling a desktop on your own. It will cost far less (you can put a decent rig together for $600, i just put together a pretty high end rig for $750)
It's very simple, the members of this forum will be more than willing to help you out if you run into any problems. And of course, it's much cheaper
