PR.exe Won't Run

Post by Han »

Hello, I've a problem with PR.exe.
When I try running it, or running the shortcut, It doesn't work. Just nothing happens. I installed BF2, Patch 1.41 then 1.5. Finally PR part 1 and then part 2.

This appears on the error log.
System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'System.String

System.Windows.Forms.OpenFileDialog.get_SafeFileName()'.
at o.i()
at e.a(String[] A_0)
I reinstalled both parts but it didnt work.

My system specs are fine and I can run BF2 in high settings 1680x1050.

Having the same issue had a HD misshap and had to reinstall everything.
I think you just have to wait a stuipid amount of time before the exe works.
I waited a full hour with not being able to do anything on my PC ( comp wouldnt do anything afterpressing it)than the run option popped up.

Now to wait maybe another hour for that to do somthing I spose.Im gussing its doing somthing as my comp is now going so slow it took a full min to load this page.

Is that normal than? if yes than why the hell does it take so long to run a simple exe file?never had anything like this only with PR (been patching for a long time now)if i rememeber correctly 8.6 or what ever version took about 10 mins after clicking the exe but an hour + is stuipid.

No thats not right. It shouldn't take any longer than 0.86. The only reason it might is if you are using steam, in which case there is a time out while it waits for steam to boot up, authorize and log on .... but still ... thats like 2 minutes , not 10.

Make sure that you are running the PR.exe as admin and BF2 in compatibility mode for XP if you on Win 7.

If for some reason , the .NET runtime is having difficulty initializing on your machine. Your machine specs and OS are ... ?
System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'System.String

System.Windows.Forms.OpenFileDialog.get_SafeFileNa me()'.
at o.i()
at e.a(String[] A_0)
This also sounds like a failure of .NET initialization .... it can't seem to find a Method to do with the file dialog (is this when you are trying to run PR through PRspy ? Or is this just normally ? There are two points where file dialogs are used and it would be handy to know which one is causing the error.)

All these errors could arise, if on Win7 ... you went and installed .NET 4. They could also arise if on WinXP you had not installed .NET 3.5.

That sounds more like you have some kind of hardware problem , or a virus.

My friend is having this same issue. Any solutions?
I installed .net 3.5 on his computer. He is using XP SP3.

Clicking the .exe does nothing. BF2 was not run prior to attempting to run the game, but then we did run BF2 to make sure it wasn't the problem, then we reinstalled PR.

I get the exact same error as listed in the OP.

BF2 was installed from the disc, then patch 1.41, then patch 1.5
