So I just got a brand new computer and needless to say it's quite capable of handling BF2. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit). A minute or so into the installation I get this error message that simply tells me BF2 could not be installed, please try again from the beginning. This has happened 5 times in a row now. I have no idea what to do.
EDIT: So I tried restarting my computer, 5 more tries, no luck. I just installed a bunch of updates for windows, but no luck there either. The download process (in InstallShield Wizard) gets stuck at \AIDLL.dll, which is the third or fourth thing to be installed. I don't know what that means, but maybe it will help someone figure out the issue. This is especially annoying because the last computer I tried to play .95 on (a laptop) crashed after 20 minutes of playing every single time I tried to play. It was definitely fun when I was able to actually play it, but this is getting ridiculous.
SOLVED: It seems it was the CD didn't like my new computer or something. I fixed the problem by downloading an ISO torrent of the game, mounting it on a virtual clone drive, then using my original CD key to install it as normal.
I can't install BF2 on my new computer... WHY?

Have you tried running the installer in compatibility mode for Win XP?

Aside from what BloodBane suggested:
Make sure you have enough disc space available.
Deactivate your security softwares during installation.
Turn off UAC during the installation.

EDIT: Sorry about the drunken comments. I was very drunk and super giddy about a new relationship.
Anyway, I couldn't figure out how to do compatibility mode. I have plenty of disk space. The security software isn't affecting it. I will try turning off UAC.

UAC: User Account Control
Google
It is possible that your installation disc is damaged or the files on it corrupted. Check for any damage the disc might have.

UAC was already turned off. The disk is perfect, and I just recently installed it on my laptop without any problems, and it's running windows 7 32 bit. I'm all out of ideas because I still can't figure out how to run the instillation in compatibility mode.'[R-COM wrote:SnipingCoward;1493571']UAC: User Account Control

EDIT: What if I just download a cracked copy of the game and use my original CD key? Would that work?
