1. You connect to the mumble waiting room at the bottom then join your game server.
2. When you spawn in you check the names on your team and join the appropriate channel if its a server using a 2 channel system like TG and PRTA.
3. If you're an SL you must join the SL team channel (always a 2 channel affair) using the Force center/Squad leader chat button.
4. Once in game you can hear guys from around 50m, now this is the thing of big debate - on a one channel system you can hear the enemies and vica versa, a two channel system only your team.
5. Enjoy proper teamwork.
I use my mouse side buttons for mumble local chat and . (numpad) for SL channel - dont share it - if I didn't have a mouse like this I'd use 0, + or enter by the numeric keypad.
If you fly high or are at the map edges Mumble does 'unlink' meaning you hear everyone, and everyone can hear you - to reconnect a quick alt tab normally works or restart mumble if not.

Re: Me Mumble Noob
You will have to Alt-Tab out into windows to switch to the appropriate channel. There is not automation for this yet.
I recommend starting mumble before starting BF2 otherwise the Overlay Feature (if you have activated it, default is off) will not work properly.
If you haven't seen this yet, here is a little description of PRmumble.
