Headset
Hey all,
I just bought the BF2 Complete Collection, and am going to download PR tonight, as of now I do not have a PC headset and I know it's mostly mandatory to have one online. Right now I'm on a tight budget and am wondering if any of you know some good cheap headsets for gaming!
EDIT: It needs to be connected through USB since my MacBook does not have a mic jack!
Thanks,
Sam

There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

Re: Headset
Good deal, but I should probably add that I need a USB one, as I don't have a mic jack on my MacBook

Re: Headset
I have Windows 7 on Boot Camp, and Battlefield 2 installed on that
I said on my macbook because I dont have 2 ports for sound and mic, I either need a headset that connects via usb, or one designed for a phone, which has one port that does both(sound and mic)

Re: Headset
For people in general, Mac Books only recognize amplified input from the mic jack. A USB speaker/headphone works nicely.
For the OP, I just went to the nearest computer accessory store and chose one of the cheaper ones I could find. You can probably get an idea of the quality from the price. Just decide how much you can afford to spend.
(Remember that there's no sound card, so I don't think you are going to get any surround sound or other fancy stuff.)
Edit: With the limited number of USB ports, you can either try a Bluetooth headset (but it's probably more expensive) or use a USB hub to get everything connected.

Re: Headset
To above, I have a bluetooth headset for a phone, you know, the small, one ear discreet thing. If I use that, will the game audio AND voice comms be played through the tiny headset? Or can I get the game sound to play on my macbook speakers, while only voice communication is through the headset?
EDIT: Also, I'm trying to avoid the amount of things I have plugged into my comp because I also heard that having a lot of items plugged into the macbook causes bad performance on those devices(like bad mic reception, or un responsive keyboard)

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

You should be able to achieve this by:D_B_Samurai26 wrote:To above, I have a bluetooth headset for a phone, you know, the small, one ear discreet thing. In Windows: Selecting your Headset as "default device" for "Recording Device" and choosing your speakers as "default device" for "Playback Device". (BF2 uses the windows default devices)
Using this headset however might give you problems not linking in mumble as there appears to be problem which will deactivate positional audio when using a mono-output device. So make sure to select your speakers as mumble's "Output Device".
As for headset: I love my behind-the-neck Logitech "Laptop Headset H555" because it is so light and fits my head and ears quite well. I can wear it for several hours to days without any problems.
There are 2 versions. One with the jack and one with an additional USB dongle. Afaik the price is the same.
Got a PROBLEM? Check this: PR:BF2 Installation Guide
Got a common QUESTION? check here first: PR:BF2 FAQ, MUMBLE FAQ
"Hello, IT! ... Yes, have you tried turning it on and off again?"

Re: Headset
I'm thinking about purchasing these headphones:
Klipsch Image S4i Review
Mostly because they work with my unibody macbook pro, which only has one jack for mic/sound, EXACTLY like a phone, which these are designed for...
In theory, these should work, any thoughts?
