I was playing yesterday on Muttrah and I saw AA on one of muttrah's hills around A5 i think, and I wanted to mark it with the radio so everyone can see it, and I lazed it, I didnt try putting CAS marker with the GLTD as I was in CAS sq and it was down at the moment and I saw the range from the GLTD and it was around 86m or something and I marked in the radio at 100m and when I saw where it came out on the map it was very close so then I used the Squad leader marker rangefinder (I was squadleader) and it was around 180m and when I marked it was correct so I think the GLTD gives incorrect range because it is zoomed in.
Steps to reproduce : just take a GLTD and mark a position then check the range given by
both GLTD and SQ leader rangefinder.
Tested on Muttrah City AAS 64 - I dont remember the server name - PR 0.95

Re: PR v0.95 GLTD Rangefinder incorrect!
You do realize that the squad leader rangefinder on the map is rounded to the nearest 50m? So 76m would appear as 100m, and 74m would appear as 50, while the GLTD is exact. This isn't a bug.

How about now, do you better understand what am I talking?
180 m and 80 m is not 50 meters difference.

I think its not actually registering that distance because there is something on the way. I dont lknow how it does it, but in empty desert there is little problem, but in muttrah there are so many buildings that even if it looks like you are aiming one further away, its registering a nearer one. You can try this by aiming at a helicopter, youll notice you can move the crosshair around quite a bit and it will say the same distance because its as if the helicopters is 4 times the size to the rangefinder.

^^ That's a possible
And hence why people get hit by friendly CAS when the laze the wall infront of them
rather than the actual target 200 metres away.

Not a bug, just learn how to aim the range finder better.
