Which Optical Drives are Compatible w/ Windows 7?

Post by Papajonathan »

Building a new rig and looking for optical drives that I can just throw in with no hassle from Windows 7 not identifying a drive that wasn't made for W7.

Needs to be a SATA drive and 5.25" bay dimension.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :3.

Thread moved to correct section.

AFAIK optical drive compatibility isn't an issue, just buy one and they will generally play nice

I put in an old DVD drive that definately was not designed for Win7. Have not had any of those compatability errors/warnings.

Err... Floppy disk drives and Optical drives tend to work on windows 7 fine.
