What ever happened to command and control?
Why was this gamemode removed/lost. It is such an interesting concept, epecially for those who love to defend or attack. It will be fun to defend a mega fob. Iwant to hear from you.
where did CnC go?
rules:
Command & Control (CnC)
This new game mode features large freeform
battles. There are no capturable CPs. Both teams can
place a single forward outpost (FO). The objective is
to defend the team's FO while trying to find and
destroy the enemy FO. When a team loses their FO
they will suffer a huge ticket penalty and continue to
lose tickets until they can build a new one. Building
the FO closer to the map's center increases the ticket
loss that the enemy will suffer while his FO is down.
The FO must be placed at least 200m from the map's
borders. Both teams can build more defenses near
their outpost than in other game modes.

It would always turn into a turtle match with a few lone wolves attacking constantly and dying even faster.
It also seemed really silly having such heavy forces attacking some sandbags, it just didn't seem on that grand of a scale.

The fact is, the general public mostly struggle with the concept of attacking/defending two clearly marked flags. CnC was to open ended, good concept but doesn't work well on public games.

Re: What ever happened to command and control?
The first few implementations were actually bugged. Players could build like six FOBs, the FOBs were immune to any nonheavy weaponry, etc. As far as I know, the mode is just too disorganized to throw onto a public rotation, but now functions of intended.
Pity, but at the same time, it's probably a good thing we don't let players set their own goals anymore.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Re: What ever happened to command and control?
Each CnC I played (last was on NEW event few weeks ago) was awesome, yet needed some tweaks. Although any 4x4km map without heavy assets is good (Yamalia!), because they can't snipe FOB from far and make game over.
My only concern are mortars and how they affect CnC. In 0.95 mortars may take away all fun of this mode.

it was fun the few times i played it in the last version... but also overly complicated to join a game and play. This mode you more or less need to play the entire round to know whats going on... Atleast thats been my experience./

Re: What ever happened to command and control?
Played it a couple of weeks ago on a pick 'em night on TG. Was great fun. The thing about mortars is true enough but keep in mind that you only get to build one FOB so there's a good chance that the mortars are constantly under attack. It's kind of shame because you can't play CnC without attacking now. The mortars will rip it apart. Although in CnC mode you can place the FOB assets ridiculously far away from the actual FOB.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading
